Bengi from 107.5 The Game

  • They have a golden opportunity to put a great product on the air and make a killing but 107.5 is either one big infomercial or amateur night. Get a seasoned Jock with a Mike Greenberg personality to keep the breaks on time, play referee, and direct the ship. Throw in a Gamecock sports junkie who actually knows the history, current rosters, and buzz on campus. Thirdly, find another Deuce type former player with great personality. There are too many dry, butt-clinched Bob Costas types in sports media already, give me a guy who is opinionated and original. You are the big stick in the market and people are begging for a quality product. There is saying in radio circles that says "You never talk about ANY topic that you aren't passionate about". The reason is, smart people can tell when you are mailing it in. There is a reason Rush, Savage, and those guys have a huge following regardless of the topic, it is because they do they're prep and they always talk about things they're passionate about.

I usually don't listen to the Early Show, but when I do, he's not that bothersome. Granted, he knows more about being a top 40 DJ than sports, so I am assuming he was brought in to take the edginess off morning sports talk. I don't even think he knows that much about tater sports.

I usually don't listen to the Early Show, but when I do, I drink Dos Equus.

  • The show is geared towards the wrong demographic IMO. I can'tisten because most of Tommy trivia or the music references are from the fifties. Lets face it...most of us driving to work are in our thirties and forties a d that is the audience they should shoot for. They don't so I rarely listen.

  • Benji Norton is a DJ who was given this role by god-only-knows. He probably promised them he'd do every commercial out there if he got that gig, which he pretty much does. He laughs at his own bad jokes and is always poorly prepared. As bad as the national shows are on my drive in the morning (before 6 AM), I'd rather listen to that than the early game.

Even though Bengi is a known tater, I respect the point of view the guy brings to the early game every morning. To be honest, he is a breath of fresh air from the usual homers that call into the show. Before everyone jumps on me calling me a tater, I am a USC alum and huge Gamecock fan. I just want some honest opinions.

Now I know some of you may disagree, but I was arguing this with a few friends of mine and they can't stand him. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts?

I'd rather have dental work than hear him.
