Braves are looking good...

  • I love to rile up the Braves haters.

Simmons is going to be one of the best shortstops in baseball - offensively and defensively.
Heyward is going to break out this year. Expect .290+ HR total will probably drop with better average.
Justin Upton is going to hit 30+ bombs.
Freeman is going to hit 25+ with 100 RBI and hit close to .300 this year.
Bossman Jr. is going to hit 30+ HR this season.
Francisco (.353, 5 HR) and Johnson (.347, 3 HR) are having a Spring Training war for the 3B spot.
Laird is a back-up, nothing more. At least he's at the bottom of the order.
Uggla is terrible. Under .200 for the spring after sucking last year. Nobody has 8 straight studs I guess.
McCann will return soon and he'll get back to the business of being McCann.

Medlen, Minor, Hudson, Maholm, Teheran, and Beachy eventually make up a nice rotation.

O'Flaherty, Venters, Martinez, Avilan, and Kimbrel make up a dominant pen.

The NL East will be fun to watch this year. The Nats are awesome too. The Phils won't be bad either.

  • Can't wait for opening day Justin Upton hit 2 mammoth shots today

  • Uggla needs to get back on roids...he sucks right now.

  • I usually try to temper my expectations when it comes to the Braves but it will be a disappointment if we don't make it to the World Series. This years' squad is absolutely STACKED! The only other real competition comes from the Nationals. The race to win the NL East should be crazy fun to watch.

  • Sorry but they're not better than the nationals and everybody except for Braves fans knows it

I actually think the two teams are about even. The braves bullpen gives the the advantage imo.

Actually, there are many people who know a lot more about baseball than you do who think the Braves are going to be pretty good. It should be a good battle between the Braves and Nats all season.

Nats get the advantage for me bc of Strasburg and Gio at the top of the rotation and a true leadoff hitter. Medlin needs to show me more than 12 starts.

Congrats on your opinion. No baseball man in his right mind would take ATL's bullpen over the Nats. Braves are OK; Phil's are fading; Nats will win 110+ games this year. Our AAA team would finish ahead of a dozen ML squads

Hard to believe someone could compare bp's man for man and take ATL's ...must be living in the past

  • In the fall of 2011, Dan Uggla, Freddie Freeman, Brandon Beechy, Brian McCann, Martin Prado & Eric Hinske were celebrity waiters at Morton's in Buckhead for Uggla's children's charity. I bought a table and took clients.

They had a silent auction prior to the event starting and then a 4 course sit down dinner where the players were waiters.

After dinner they had a live auction led by Uggla and another guy as MC.

They were auctioning off a 3 night stay at Sawgrass Resort in Ponte Vedre Beach.

Uggla's says come on guys, I'm kicking in $1000 of my own money for these kids. Then out of no where while it was silent, someone yells, "didn't you just sign a 5 yr deal worth $62 million? Come on Dan, it's for the kids."

The place came unglued in laughter.

Had to share since Uggla is getting swatted at ITT.

    You cant be serious.

I dont know which is better...but to act like ATL doesnt have a stellar bullpen makes you look foolish.

You're so blinded by homerism it's not even funny.

  • I agree with almost all, MCR. Great post. Our lineup is as good, or maybe better than St. Louis's was last year. There are really no bats that don't scare you. Even Uggla is somebody they have to be cautious with.

I think Freddie Freeman is going to become one of the best hitters in MLB in the next couple of years. He has huge power, but doesn't have a long swing, so he's a good contact hitter as well. I just really like that guy. I'm also a big fan of Francisco's bat. He has as much raw power as anybody on that team. I would really like to see him start for a whole season and see what happens.

Two years ago, it was the Braves pen that most thought was the best in baseball. Last year, Kimbrel had one of the best seasons in the history of baseball, but Venters had a down year for the most part, so the Braves didn't get quite the same level of credit. The Nats had a great bullpen but lost a couple of guys from last year. Not 8th/9th inning guys, but still important pieces.

The good thing about this is that we have 7 months or so to watch and find out who is right.

I'd give y'all the edge but the Nats did add Soriano. He and Storen at the back end could be as good as any in baseball.

  • Most nights against the Braves or Nats, it's a 7-8 inning ballgame. There won't be more than 5-6 blown 9th inning saves on both teams combined I bet.
