  • I'm on Spring Break. I'll be camped out in front of my big TV. By the way, watch this bomb by Francisco, the Braves newest power hitter.

  • Been following them religiously since the Pat Jarvis - Ron Reed days (man they were awful), but I have a hard time getting excited this year.

  • Luckily a TV at the office is positioned perfectly for viewing at my desk. I'll be at the home openers next Fri/Sat against the Brewers. Got more optimistic on the season after the recent 3B acquisition.

How so? Uggla should start of hot and hopefully Heyward has fixed his swing. We've gotten rid of D lowe and Huddy should be back soon. The team is pretty much identical to that of last years and even though we missed the playoffs, we had one of the better records in baseball towards the end of the season. I'm very excited about this year.

The Reds 3B situation going forward is as ubsettled as the Braves, I don't think they would trade that 3B prospect if they thought he is worth a damn. He has power but he strikes out a ton and walks less than 5% of the time. He has never put up an OBA more than .320 at any stop where he played 25 games or more.

I think he pissed them off by showing up fat when they were expecting him to compete for a position. With Atlanta, it's about him being better than the 4th outfielder. If he can play third, Prado can play left.

  • I know one game doesn't matter but game 1 vs a lefty with Santana throwing is tough with all out lefty hitters...

    Bourne
    Heyward
    McCann
    New 3b
    Freeman

Then the only righty hitters are pitcher sorry ss prado then Uggla

  • I'm a huge fan but I also have reservations about this team. I'm not sold on Heyward fixing his swing. Not a fan of fredi and his managing style either. I hope our pitching staff can stay healthy. Our bullpen was way overworked last year!

You obviously dont watch much baseball much if you think Martin Prado is sorry. Guy can play anywhere on the field and has an above average bat.

If you read my post I said ss not prado. Btw prado is far from a good hitter which is why they spent all offseason trying to trade him and noone would take him. He is a great utility player. LF and 3B are power hitter spots. He isn't but I'm sure I don't know a sport I played my whole life...

My apologies I thought you were calling him a sorry _ss . I think any hitter that has a .293 career average can be classified as a good hitter. Not to mention he is clutch. Plenty of teams would take Prado in a trade, they just didn't want to give up what we were asking. Career stats below.

You must not understand baseball. Teams trade players that add value to another team for players that add value to their team. Why else would a team have any reason to trade at all? It is all to do with how individual clubs evaluate the value of a trade. In this case, the Braves were looking to add another solid OF (Adam Jones) because of the uncertainty of Jason Heyward and their instability in left field. You have to give something to get something. In this case, Martin Prado. They obviously valued the upside of Adam Jones more so than the overall value of Martin Prado.

Having a career .AVG of .300 can get you in the HOF. Not saying that Prado is a HOF player, but I am saying that he is a great hitter. It is not uncommon for good players in any sport to have a season in which they struggle.

  • Prado is a good utility player but his bat isnt that good. Problem for him he is basically a corner OF/3B and he has a career OPS under .800. Limited power for those two spots.

Prado can play anywhere on the field. He's not limited to just 3rd and corner OF. He would make a helluva 2nd baseman on most teams.

He played 41 games at 3B, 100 in LF and 2 at 1B. His bat would be better at 2B but Ugglas there. Again an OPS under .800 is not that good for 3B or LF. Helps out with roster flexibility.

  • No man. We have a probie for that. We should be doing something if the chief shows up, but thank God hes a braves fan, so he will infront of the tv also..... It's a rough job, but someone has to do it. Lol

  • Why would the braves be looking for an upgrade in left if Prado was so good. Not saying he is bad at baseball but a12-14 hr guy in left doesn't cut it. The braves need hitters and that is the one position outside of ss that they could have upgraded. Them not making any moves has been the talk of the offseason.
