Breaking news from Florida State fans ...

  • DISGRUNTLED FSU FANS: There is no doubt there is a growing sentiment in the Florida State fan base that a conference move to the Big 12 might be worth exploring. Many FSU fans have expressed their discontent on message boards and in social media.

They complain about the perception that ACC commissioner John Swofford, the former athletic director at North Carolina, caters to UNC basketball coach Roy Williams and Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Contrary to the belief of this board and others disgruntled fans on message boards don't have that kind of pull...

But there has been no indication that the Big 12 is interested in adding FSU.

If the Big 12 added West Virginia, they would definitely be interested in Florida State. They need to get to 12 teams so they are shopping.

  • The tater fans say they want it bad but Barker (a class A Turd and liar that was caught fudging at their academic data to get them a higher ranking) will kill it before it has a chance of happening.

Exactly. He's more worried about the US News and World Report rankings so he's not leaving UNC, Duke, Virginina, and GT.

They believe the ACC caters to tabacco Rd basketball, and they also believe water is wet, heat is hot, and they just heard president Kennedy was shot.

Doesn't the Big 12 need 2 more teams so they can have a championship game, though?

If FSU was in a big conference, they would be very dangerous. They have gone downhill since they joined the ACC, but they still bring in ungodly recruiting classes.

Do ya'll think klimpson would be dangerous if they joined the Big 12, all bias aside?

  • I think the style of offense Clemson runs fits what is currently going on in the Big 12. Okie St won the Big 12 Champsionship with a high powered offense, one of the top 3 in the country, but their defense was just horrible. So yes I think they'd fit in and make some noise and win a few games. However, I don't think they'd be dangerous in the conference. They'd be a 7-5 team probably. TV market does Clemson bring anything? At least with Florida St, you'd be getting something.

After this past season Coach K and UNC would like to see FSU go pack and move on.

My question to you is: Who from their recruiting area would want to play for them if they go to the Big 12? I think their recruiting would suffer thus plunging them deeper into insignificance.

  • So the FSU fans want to leave the ACC because it is too Tobacco Road centric and go to the Big 12? Interesting, did they not understand the reason why the Big 12 was in trouble of dissolving? They would be moving from one conference where two school call the shots to another where one school, Texas calls the shots.

  • Fla. State made a huge mistake joining the ACC. I was really surprised at the time that they did.

SOunds like we need to help the taters make the move to the Big 12 then...right?

  • um boy - road trips to Ames, Iowa and Manhattan, Kansas - makes Starksville almost tropical.

    CAPTIVA73

  • travel would kill them. And for recruiting, how many kids is FSU going to get from Iowa, Kansas or Texas.
I would open up those states to get a couple of Fla kids. FSU may not like the ACC but it's the best fit for them. No way Florida or USC let FSU or the Clemmers into the SEC. No way ! They add NOTHING.

  • Playing in such a weak conference weakens the stronger teams so much they start playing down to that level. Fla. St. and Miami both have fallen, clemson usually has talent but gets beat'n bad in bowl games against teams with similar talent (does 70-33 ring a bell), and Va. Tech may have been the big cheese, but usually loses their BCS games. Going to the acc has hurt all of those teams.

I told an FSU buddy right when they joined the ACC that FSU made a big mistake joining that conference and their football team would decline. He looked at me with big puppy dog eyes and didn't say anything. Poor guy.

Worked great for Papa Bowden in the short haul, but LT mistake for the school.

  • They are losing $ in the ACC & will only continue to. The ACC is fixing to lose its AQ status, & they have no bowl tie ins what so ever.

  • Some things never change. Sounds like the same reasons/complaints that we had 40 years ago when we left the ACC.

I really don't see this helping FSU and Clemson that much. I think it will hurt recruiting in most cases especially in Clemson's case. Kids here grow up seeing the NC teams, Georgia teams and the SEC/ACC teams. They will not want to be playing teams in the Southwest that they really hear nothing about other than Texas and Oklahoma. Clemson goes from a top tier ACC team to a middle of the pack Big 12 team.
