Think of all the jobs lost and impact on the surrounding community. Canceling a season would only hurt more people. Bowl ban, lost of scholarships and monetary penalties makes more sense. Those truly involved are either in jail, soon to go to jail, or dead.

the current students staff etc at psu are no more responsible for child molestation than i am for the international arms race

child predators are often smart, cunning people. and, whether psu plays football or not, there will be abuse, in pennslyvania, sc, and all points east north west and east

I think child sex abuse is on a different level than issues about Dabo Swinney, but that is probably where my conscience kicks in.

Worst sports scandal in US history, by far, with dozens of lives ruined or in consistent upheaval. Yeah that's the same as Dabo.

Of course it isn't going to stop child sex abuse. This scandal is about Penn State, not stopping global sex abuse forever. You want to help the victims heal? Show them that being complicit in a child sex predator's scheme for 15 years is - as it should be - worse than the pay-for-play scam at SMU.

NO but it will stop some other idiot head coach or administrator from covering up such a crime. Maybe next time someone will have the guts to stop such a despicable person.

so killing Penn St. football will keep people from hiding a crime like this more than firing everyone involved, sending them to jail and letting the victims sue the schools for loads of cash? Face it, letting the NCAA kill Penn St football does nothing but let a lot of angry people fell better. But what it will do is give the NCAA unprecedented power to hand out punishment for anything it wants.

Heck, the NCAA hasn't even done its own investigation, it simply took the Freeh report on face value and leveled punishment. No due process at all. this precident is awful and I hope Penn St sues in court and wins.

Massive overreach by the NCAA IMO. Penn State and those responsible should be hammered in the civil and criminal courts, not by the NCAA, which should stick to enforcing recriuting and eligibility rules.

The NCAA is already too powerful. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm leery of its grandstanding and its meddling in things outside of its designed purpose, such as it did with the flag boycott.
