Clemson Workout video

  • This video seals us locking up the recruiting battle for the next 5 years. All Spurrier and Co. need to do is walk into a recruits home, tell them to sit on the couch and watch the 2 videos. Done deal.
And do those idiots not even realize that ringing a bell is what a Navy Seal trainee does when he's had enough and he wants to quit? LOL. Love it. They'll be ringing the bell by 10 minutes into the first quarter come fall.

  • Back arching on the bench press, leaning foward on squats and using your back instead of your legs-pathetic. The fat white guy near the end struggles with 225. No wonder we are dominating them.

I don't claim to be an expert on weight training, but I'm knowledgeable enough to know that in particular was terrible.

A couple of those guys were about 70% lower back bend and 30% squat. The weight training coach at my high school would have ripped into anyone he saw doing that and make them do a week of form work with no weights/just the bar.

  • I did not see very many functional, 'football strength' exercises. The ones they did were with very light weights. Stuff like front squats, cleans and jerks, power cleans, etc. Bench press and curls have their place, and are good for beach trips, but should not be the only stuff you do for football. That, of course, is just my opinion, and obviously klimpson's coaches see it differently.

Coach Connolly likes more of those explosive lifts. I also like those tug of war drills and other competitive stuff they do, and the players really like them as well. I have heard several players say they like Connolly more than Fitz. That is very good to hear.

Did ya'll also notice the lack of enthusiasm? They weren't cheering each other on, or getting each other pumped up. They were obviously only doing it because they have to.
In our video, the guys are pumping each other up and encouraging each other. That is the difference between our programs in a nutshell.

  • Why put chains on the bar, just add more weight you p@#$%

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

    suffoletta

  • it is complicated to explain but adding chains and bands to the bar makes the lift more difficult as you proceed to lockout. The weight gets progressively heavier the higher you push it. We have chains in our video as well, but I don't remember any of the players using them on film. Anyway, it is a legit technique that power-lifters use in training. Even so, if that is all they are doing, we are killing them on functional strength development, explosive power, etc....

  • Our QB is deadlifting more than their oline. BJ is squating over 600

I am by no means a weightlifting genius or trying to be a smart ass, but wouldn't adding more weight make it harder to lift as well.

I understand where you are coming from. Heavier weight will make the lift harder, but these techniques are designed to help the lifter power through weak points they may have, like pushing the weight off of their chest for the first several inches and then locking the lift out. Just using heavier weight by itself doesn't help fix the weak points of the lifters technique.

  • I thought it was awesome! I hope they keep up the good work! Didn't really see anything they need to change! Heck I'd even give their Trainer a big raise. He deserves it! Thanks for sharing this video. I'm confident that we'll kick the crap out of them for a fourth straight time and they'll like it!

I think their goals are numbered progressively. I sincerely doubt beating Auburn (#1) is more important than winning the ACC

During the late 70's and early 80's I was just a little kid but I seem to recall them getting in some kind of trouble concerning how they went about paying their players during that time???

Joey Batson is a loser. He's the clown that can be heard jawing at Shaq Wilson at the end of the game last year after Jaron Brown laid a blindside block on Shaq. The game was over and Shaq got decleated on a nasty shot by Brown. Immediately you see this fat ass in a sweatshirt with is hat on backwards run up. As the camera pans away you can hear Batson screamiing "Stay down punk". Somebody must have said something because he then screams the series record followed "check your history books punk".
