Clemson claims complete domination, but

  • If my 2am math is spot on then this is my figure

Series is 65-40-5. True they've won more, however they think they are Super Bowl champs.

    60+40+5= 105
So yeah. They have win 57% of the games and talk like they've won 90%

  • A week or so ago, I had a tater claim that even if we won 20 in a row, they would still hold the overall series lead, and termed that "domination". I replied that 20 in a row would be complete domination, regardless of what happened in the 1990's and earlier.

Fact is, he's right. And so am I. I guarantee we win 20 straight and nobody is going to care what the overall series record sits at.

  • The only thing that really matters is "What have you done for me lately?"

Three out of three is total domination in my book...

I agree. But I think it will take at least 5 in a row, maybe 6, before most of them will start viewing us differently. They consider this current streak an anomaly. They expect things to "get back to normal" in the next year or so. I hope we can get at least 5 wins in a row.

  • I've got one answer for Clemmers who want to bring up the series record: "All it means is that you used to have a good program. Meanwhile, we've won 4 of the last 6."

What most if you are missing is the fact that they KNOW that we own them now and the only thing they can point to is the overall record! They KNOW that they are going down and we are going up and they can't stand it, it drives them crazy. They KNOW that this is not a "flash in the pan" good football team, this is a team that is built to be good for a while and it is killing them! They suck and can't face reality!! Go Cocks!!

I can understand if Clemson fans pretend to be unimpressed with our recent success in the series. Since 1976 it's been a common occurrence for Clemson to run off 3 or 4 consecutive wins in the rivalry. We'll simply have to prove to them that our current streak is a harbinger of things to come rather than an anomaly.

That's the line I use.... "look, if you're ok with losing in the present, I'm ok with losing in the past.

I'm ok with them quoting history and the series record. It is what it is, but I'm having a lot more fun being a Gamecock than my great grandfather did.

It is something like 62% I think if you don't count the ties.

Since WWII, it is only 37-27-2 Clemson or 57%.

  • This isn't the yanks redsox as far as being dominated for 80 years goes. I don't care what happened prior to like 2000. their 80's 90's "domination" was all due to cheating, they were on a level with SMU. So they can talk all they want, when ML tunes them up for 2 hondo what they say won't matter.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

Yes. That's the best response I've seen. I promise to attribute it if I use it.

  • I think that the math that is really bothering them is:

    34+29+34= 97
    13+7+17= 37
    = 3peat woot

What happened in the leather helmet era is irrelevant.
Current attitudes, on both sides, are the result of the period 1976-2005, during which Clemson won 22 of 30 games (73%).
All of us lived through at least part of that dark time. Many, like me, bitterly remember all of it.
During that period, there were four occasions in which Clemson reeled off 4-game winning streaks.
So there is no denying that during that era, Clemson dominated. And there is no denying that even with our current three-game win streak, we still have much work to do to approach that level of domination over them.
But, as Robb Stark said to Jamie Lannister, "It's better than three defeats."

Tough one. This deserves its own thread. Given the current heated nature of the rivalry and the stability and respect out baseball team gets, I would rather have the football win.

Not a fair question because we're likely to win both.

  • I absolutely could careless about all time record.

I care about 2 things in the football series.

90 percent- who won last time we played. Don't care if we've won 4 in row and yall stop streak that loss hurts same as losing 3rd in row.

10 percent- my lifetime all time record.

I could care less who win the 1922 game.

But for those saying its not domination or for phatcock saying we got off to good start. You realize every game was played in Cola til 59 or so.
Like 75 percent of the games have been played in Columbia.

But any fan who cites all time record is complete douche. Same with fan who just lost but has won 3 out of last 4 or whatever.
