Clemson fans think we are conspiring to keep them out of the SEC

  • Honestly, for clemson, I don't see a good ending. If they join the big 12, they probably wont play in the state of GA or NC. That would hurt heir recruitng in those states. The travel for other sports will greatly reduce the financial gain that they are counting on. If they stay in the ACC, with the way yesterday panned out, they will be in what appears to be a 2nd tier football conference. However, if the big 12 were to take them, Fla ST., Va tech, and Ga Tech, they would have a division with some games in a reasonable traveling distance. Clemson, Fla st, Ga tech, WVU and Va Tech in the same divsion would be a very hard divsion. That would also be a very impressive football conference.
I think the SEC will go to 16. You have to wonder about UNC. I know they are the ACC and really care the most about basketball. I just can't believe they would be OK about being left out of the chance to play for a football championship. IF the SEC were to get them and either VA or Va tech, that would be huge
It would also suck for us. There is a big advantage to being the closest SEC school to most of those states. It would hurt our recruiting. .

I hadn't thought of this but good point. Their recruiting ties would be much more limited.

We are truly looking to block them and the would be high on the list if the SEC were to want to go to sixteen.

My concern about the SEC going to 16 in the future is the other conferences make the move first, and we wind up not having any really good choices left and get stuck with clemson being one of the better choices of schools that are left. Here's to hoping they get picked up fast by some other conference and they get stuck with lots of travel expenses.

I don't think that would be a major concern. The SEC is THE conference and all others are wannabes at this point. The powers that rule are discussing the options and weighing out the what ifs probably as we post. If another conference jumps on one of the SEC's projected new members, I think the SEC just pulls the trigger a little earlier than planned. What team would take the B1G over the SEC? .... yea, that's what I think, too... none.

  • I would hope we are doing whatever it takes to keep them out. Let them waste away in the ACC.

If this happens, I think we just stick at 14 honestly.

Clemson would be about 6th or 7th on the list.

I have Clemson at 11th with all options being available for the SEC disposal of hand picking. With the Big 12 SEC game proposal, I will remove all the BIG 12 teams and place Clemson at 9th place.

    1. Texas
    2. Oklahoma
    3. North Carolina
    4. NC State
    5. Virginia
    6. Va Tech
    7. Maryland
    8. OK State
    9. Miami
    10. Fla St
    11. Ga tech
    12. Clemson

But in reality no one cares about them. Its pretty funny to read all the angry threads on Tigernet this morning about how we are blocking them, that the SEC really wants Clemson, and how the state legislature needs to intervene. In all honesty if the SEC was looking to add two more teams, Clemson would be about 6th or 7th on the list.

    if we aren't, we should

they screwed us 40 years ago...time to return the favor

Hell, screw em because they're Clempson
