Clemson offers Corey Miller's son

  • MrBigAl said...

Agreed. We shouldn't offer any kid who's father isn't clean, sober, employed full time and has no criminal record.

The father must also have a pleasant personality.

Did I mention any of those traits. I guess you can't read.

  • I respect that Corey has a job to do on his show, but I can also see problems down the road if his son isn't playing. I remember Corey going off on Spring Valley's HC on his show, because of an incident involving another son of his. I thought he went too far and let his personal feelings get in the way of professionalism.

I would love for it to work out with Christian, but I have a suspicion that the Carolina coaches are going to avoid being scrutinized on air non-stop by a player's father.

  • It's one thing to have kids with helicopter parents. It's a completely different ball game to have kids with helicopter parents who have a media outlet for airing their grievances.

I never listen as I'm out of state, but regardless of his opinions, he doesn't appear to have a track record of discretion.

  • Fyi, on his show today Corey said he would pull for Clemson 11 times a year if his son went there. But come the USC game he'd still be wearing garnet and black.

This, from all reports, his son is a great player. We would all take Corey Miller again in a heartbeat, the quality of player he was. He speaks his mind, as do many on this board, so what.

I say we go after Christian hard. We can always use a great linebacker.

  • Corey Miller is a pastor. I wonder how much Abo and the deacons are appealing to his religious conviction in the recruitment of his son. That being said, this might be a Scott Wingo situation where the son of a former player goes to the arch-rival.

  • if he has the ability & the coaches want him, i want him too. i dont care what his dad said about clemson. so they have a nice little rural campus. good for them.

since clemson was the first to offer i would expect good words, and i have it on good authority that the clemson coaches are not registered sex offenders, so if the kid wants to waste his career playing in a second rate league, i dont care

we are past caring about one linebacker, legacy or not. we got the lb we wanted. we are not desperate, perhaps thats why usc is slow playing him.

he and dad need to put on their big boy pants. i dont care where he goes to school. i dont care where his dad goes to watch. its a free world, you are free to walk about the nation

it is in the tnet forum under coot gets it and the article i am speaking of is gamecock son at tigers camp

Maybe I am stupid but I cannot find that article.

  • I did find a article on the internet where Corey said that we were not recruiting his son as much as he would like and he thought we were taking things for granted.

  • I will be straight up pissed if we don't sign him. A great Alum's kid should be a shoe in. His dad is a big Gamecock, so the kid probably grew up pulling for us too. I think we will get him. If we don't, I would normally think that that was a very bad sign regarding the state of our program. But, we all know we are doing things right, right now. Its kind of like when we passed on the lineman from Spring Valley that ended up at Clemson. A lot of people thought we were screwing up. It was the right move. This one has a long time to play out. Miller is just pumped that he got an offer.

His dad is an embarrassment. We owe this kid no favors

Really? That's funny,.... I looked and didn't see it. C&P?

He was talking them up on the radio today. I know he has the right to say what he wants but with him being a member of the media, and a player that played at USC, I feel it would be best if he tried to distance himself really and not go into specifics in regards as to who is doing what right and who isn't.

  • Here's the story I read.

Corey said the South Carolina staff may be taking Christian’s connection to the Gamecocks for granted.

“I think they took the wrong approach,” Corey said. “They haven’t really been that fired up about him like Brent has. For a 15-year-old kid, that makes sense. I told him I’ll put orange on 11 or 12 times a year, counting a bowl. It’s just the last one in the regular season that I couldn’t do it. That one game I couldn’t do it. I’d have to wear a mixed bag or something.”

  • I can tell you one thing with 100% certainty.

All of you acting like a bunch of myopic little bitches because you don't like this or that Corey Miller said will do nothing to help our program. The world is bigger than South Carolina football. The guy has a job to do, and for the most part he is 80% gamecock homer. Instead of appreciating the 80%, you bitch about the 20%.

If his son can play, He can play. Kid's been a Gamecock since he was born. You have nothing to gain by pissing on his dad.

Personally, I'm not pissing on him but his quotes in the article above was sure complimentary to Clemson. He has ragged Clemson and their coaches so many times on his show and has stated that the ACC was nothing more than a glorified high school league, it's just surprising to me he said some of what he did. I think it's best he try and stay more neutral that's all.

his dad sucks at his job. for the most part about what I know about him, he's sucked at life. he chose to put himself out there for public scrutiny by being on the radio.

  • Everyone needs to grow up. Christian is gonna be a stud linebacker and last time I checked we are gonna need a few of those here shortly. It seems everyone could put aside their petty differences with the kids father, who by the way is payed to speak his mind which isn't always roses and sunshine for what could be the betterment of our program. Clemson is outworking us right now so we need to step it up. I listened to Corey's interview on the radio tonight and you can tell he's excited for his son as any father should be but make no mistake about it he still bleeds garnet and black and I'm sure he'd love to see his son as a Gamecock in the near future.

Why as a father can he not be appreciative of the attention the Clemson staff is showing his son? Classy move by him IMO.

  • Guys there's a reason we havent offered yet with his dad a former player and the kid playing in Columbia. Heck for two weeks its been out Clemson was offering at camp. The term helicopter dad was brought up and I agree. The guy has used his radio platform to get the Spring Valley coach fired, bash our basketball coach/program relentlessly and spread false reports about Alshon getting arested and probably hurt his draft stock. All we need is him complaining 3-6 mon-fri about player X playing over his son, questioning the coaches or whatever.

I should have added his sons recruiter was his position coach and he was on TI questioning our staff. The same staff that has us playing at and recruiting at the highest level ever.
