Clemson preseason #36 according to this site

I know CollegeFootballNews.com isn't usually the best source out there but they're not buying the Clempson hype this year. They have them preseason #36 and projected to go 7-5.

They'll have a top 15 record, somewhere around 2-4 losses after the bowl game.
But are they one of the top 25 best teams, maybe even 35? I doubt it.

as long as they play the schedule as it stands now, they should win AT LEAST nine games, even if they lose to Auburn. As long as they are in the ACC, anything less than 9 wins per year should be a MAJOR disappointment.

I think if you ask, "should they be about the 36th best team in the country?" and not look at their record then I think that's a fair assessment. However, with their schedule they should win at least 8, probably 9 games by just getting off the bus. I think it will be another year of looking good most of the season and sitting in the top 20 most of the year only to get their teeth knocked in by legitimate top 20 teams.

Imo Clemson will blow out poor defensive fronts, but struggle mightily with good ones. FSU and us have good ones. No idea on the others.

I'm with you. Their Oline should be very good. Their qb and receivers are at worst 3rd best in the conference. Sunseri can flat coach and their 2 best players on last year were freshmen.
I think people are banking on the locker room falling apart. If that doesn't happen then watch out. That O will be dangerous. Especially when you throw in Hunter and Patterson

Agreed if the locker room stays together and they remain healthy they will be the dark horse in the east. Glad we got them at home.

Actually, the opposite of that is true. UT's strength is their lines, and that will be a glaring
weakness for CU. Football is won and lost at the line of scrimmage.
Ranking CU ahead of UT would be using last years teams, which many pre-season polls do. That is what is dumb.

I think their right. You cannot be as poor on the O and D Line as they are going to be and even beat mediocre Teams. I say 7 - 5 and 8 - 4 at best.

I think Clemson, esp Watkins, snuck up on a lot of early opponents last year. They'll have more of a bullseye on their back this year and we know how that normally works out for them.
I highly doubt they'll put together the same number of wins in 2012.

I don't think they'll go 7-5, but I agree with crt in that I believe Watkins numbers will plummet this year.

They lose to Auburn, South Carolina, GT, one of VT/FSU, and another headscratcher (Wake, Duke, NC State, BC)
