Clowney has at least two votes for Heisman

  • One from a guy named Earle Robinson and "anonymous voter #4." Pretty cool stuff.

  • how many people vote on the award each year? Aren't the past winners part of the vote as well? If so, I'd think Spurrier would vote him up there as well

  • Heard Toretta on XM, said he was considering a vote for Clowney. Cannot believe I am saying this, but wait till next year, if T'eo is in it this year, then one would have to think JC would be in it next year

I am actually thinking it would be good for Clowney if Te'o won. People have this thing in their head that a defensive guy can't win. People used to say the same thing about sophomores, but once Tebow won it I think we had three in a row.

Wouldnt it be great if JD is the first defensive lineman to ever win it?

I genuinely think next year sets up well for him to make a run at it.

  • Here are my thoughts -

You're forming a team and you can pick one player to build your team around. Who is it? For some it would be Manzel. For some it'd be Clowney. I'm not sure anyone would say Te'o. Te'o is no better than LBs of the recent pasts that didn't get a sniff at the award. He's a snowball of a lot of parts - he plays for the top rated BCS team. He plays for Notre Dame. He has a emotional story connected to him.... He IS NOT the most outstanding player in college football.

I pose these questions to anyone that says he is - If he is at Cincinnati, and has the exact same stats, is he even a part of the discussion? Do folks believe he has the same impact on each game that they currently do? Does he win all of these awards? I'd say no..... On the flip side of it - if Clowney is at Cincinnati, does he still impact the game the same way he does at USC? Do coaches still prepare gameplans with him in mind? Does he win awards like the best DE? I'd say yes.

Clowney is consistently labeled as the best defensive player in college football. It's said he'd be the top overall draft pick if eligible this year. Yet, another defensive player is ahead of him on top awards? Clowney should absolutely be in NYC for the show, and, should win it, IMO.
