Coach Horn

  • Whats with all the "man has a family" talk? Lets face it , He has been making excellent money and has just came up short, he will be owed excellent money for coming up short, I don't understand the "pity party" some on this board are tossing up with the "man has a family". It amazes me that we are talking about the 2nd highest paid coach at SCAR who has DDT'ed (a wrestling move where you drop your opponent on his head) the USC basketball Program over his 4 year tenure BUT some are acting like he has been making minimum wage and soon will be on the street. Give me a Break.

Oh, and by the way, the "blame it on the Fans bull...." is about as bad.

  • Yes, because he is paid well he deserves no compassion or human decency. I'm quite sure that I read that in Scripture somewhere. I just can't remember the exact $ amount where the cut off lies.

Maybe Horn shouldn't have acted like a horses arse his first 2 years here and people would care. His past arrogance is a huge part of his down fall.

Save your gospel. Save it on the people who actually make minimum wage with 2-3 kids and are out of work and just lost there house. Or the dual working family who are in the same situation. Dickie Horn will be just fine. He will either go back to a smaller school, or then get hired on with Calipari at Kentucky since Calipari has such a high regard for him. I have nothing personal against him. I don't hate him. But he will do just fine after he leaves.

  • What I don't get is why we have to dance on the man's grave and act as though he's the antichrist. It hasn't work out; I get it. But do we have to dance on his grave?

Nor should it. Business is business. But that doesn't mean that we can't handle it professionally and without venom does it? And for those that say Horn hasn't been professional, as I know some will, that doesn't abdicate us from our responsibility to do the right thing in the right manner does it? And before I am once again lambasted as being a Horn supporter, I'll leave my comments at that. I'm outta here.

  • It's not about the money he makes. It's about the personal attacks. There is no need for personal attacks. I am aware that it hasn't worked out, but he tried. I have no problem with him being fired. Heck, I'm all for it, but the personal attacks are childish and there is no need for them.

This is why: He is a Gamecock. No one wanted the team to succeed more than him. Since when is it ok to take pleasure in another person's failure, especially when they wanted the same thing as us?

To rub it in makes us as bad, or worse than our neighbors up in pickens. If you want to do that, then why are you defending the fans? you would not fall into that category anyways.

There is rarely a circumstance where personally attacking a coach is even close to ok. That is what all this 'he has a family' is about. To stick your thumbs in your ears and extend your tongue at him is juvenile, if that is what you are doing.

  • Look the BB team has been hard for everyone. Horn, Hyman, BOT, the fans, ect. Something has to change though cause we really can't take another year like this one. It would be great if he had a good class coming in but we don't. I am sure Horn is a great guy but let's face it this isn't a good fit. Plain and simple. It's time to move on and lets get the BB team back to at least winning a few games. No harm in saying hey it didn't work out good luck elsewhere. This is a business and business sucks on the BB court. Case in point our stands looked like a WNBA game was being played when we had a home game. Pitiful. Wish him the best but its time to GTFO

  • I do not bother with worring about middle aged millionaires....I am mostly concerned with getting our student athletes the things they need to chase their asperations. IMO we worry way to much about coaches and not enough about the players.

I learned a long time ago that business is business. Im not on this board talking about "how good a family man this guy is" or "how many times he goes to church". Therefore, by me saying that he has done a "shotty job" his 4 years is not personal, its business, its his profession, and therefore I don't consider myself taking personal jabs at the guy. I don't know anything about the guy other than he has not done a GOOD JOB with our basketball program and he's OVERPAID. Other than that, he may be the best thing in Columbia.

    Also.......

Your answer that " He is a Gamecock" can't be taken seriously. Get over yourself , fail
