Coach Ward

  • has obtained 8 commitments from prospects in the class of 2012 and he's not finished. I'd wager there aren't too many coaches who can match or exceed that total. I hope his promotion to DC doesn't diminish his effectiveness as a recruiter.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • I don't know why it should. Ellis Johnson landed Stephon Gilmore and Jadeveon Clowney while he was in charge of the defense.

Two players from one city in three years. I think we need Ward to pull in a few more than that.

Johnson was used specifically for South Pointe HS and getting Gilmore, Holloman and Clowney to sign. OUtside of SPHS, he was not involved much at all in recruiting. Whammy needs to stay on the hunt as he has really developed some in-roads in Georgia. I suspect he will do just that. He seems to enjoy being on the road and he can make most of them day trips.

  • I see Ward recruiting just as hard in the off season. He has developed some great ties in the Atlanta area and he is not going to give them up. He will not have as much time during the season but no coaches do. He will get them on campus and be there then.

That'd be great if he could manage his time in such a way that he could keep hittin' it in Atlanta.

  • GA Mangus has six.

  • And Mangus will get that many every year. He is by far the best recruiter on that staff

Mangus certainly has the most wide-spreaad array of territories but I wouldn't say that he's a better recruiter than Ward.

yes but you have to admire BigGal.

despite the fact he is rarely correct he continues to speak in conclusory terms that convey a sense that he knows anything about anything.

and anyways, what he lacks in understanding he more than makes up for in robot-like dullness.

It would be great if you could just offer the compliment without the backanded closing. Regarding that, Ward has said that he doesn't anticipate the change in role to affect his recruitng greatly. In fact, aren't you one of the many who laments the lack of recruitng involvement by our senior staff (Spurrer, EJ)? Wouldn't this be an improvmement in that regard?

It would be great if so many posters weren't so fragile and insecure that they sift through each post looking for perceived or imagined slights.

Dude everyone on this board knows you are a hater and a pessimist. You need to stop pretending that you dont stir the pot, either intentionally or unintentionally. You are clueless if you think you dont do this, and you are also quite obtuse if you think we dont see what you are doing.

  • Typical final sentences from MBA:

"I hope his promotion to DC doesn't diminish his effectiveness as a recruiter."

"She's a 10 except for that freckle on her arm."

"That's a really nice watch -- hope you don't lose it."

"I won $100 million in the lottery but the damn government will take half."

  • As long as Ward can continue getting players from Stephenson I'll be okay. Place is a hot bed for football talent.
