Coaching Tiers

  • Tier 1 (Complete "roll around in the tall grass" Success)
    Marshall
    Stallings
    Smart

Tier 2 (I guess, but I am skeptical)
    Martin
    Capel

Tier 3 (Wake me when the next coaching search begins)
    Cooper
    Anigua

  • I'd move Martin and Antigua up a tier each.

There are plenty more candidates that I could see us ending up with that excite me less than the ones you mentioned.

I feel confident any of your Tier 1 guys can be successful. I do think Martin could be considered a borderline Tier 1 as well. Not sure if he would have any interest but Scott Drew is another guy I would like for us to consider.

We may as well take Smart off. It's not going to happen.

I'd bump Capel to tier 3 and add Scott Drew to Tier 1 or 2.

  • I didn't include Drew because I am friends with his family and it would take a LOT to get him to Carolina. Baylor is going through this huge transformation right now and he is heavily involved.

Antigua just doesn't excite me. I want someone who has been a head coach, who has built a program or multiple programs into NCAA contenders and one that has area/aau contacts and relationships.

  • The more I read about Antigua the more I like him. I would be happy with him and think in a few years he will be big time. Big risk big reward.

    Dear God...it's over...give it a rest.
