Committee on Infractions accepts USC's penalty ...

I guess that's fine, but regardless the players DID NOT receive $51,000 in benefits - I'm tired of rehashing/explaining all that. In a court of law we would have been exonerated, but whatever - pay homage to the almighty NCAA and ask for vasoline. I do wish the local media would do a little research, have a friggin source or two rather than spewing all this crap over the radio like we may be forfeiting games, giving back division championships, etc. I don't know if the local media in Columbia is uninformed, stupid or simply trying to drum up conversation, but they sure look like idiots now.

They just now started looking like idiots?

I just figured out where you catch redfish....busted!

Brit who bought a cut-price island in the Seychelles 50 years ago... and still lives in blissful solitude | Mail Online

In 1962, Yorkshireman Brendon Grimshaw bought Moyenne - a small island just half a mile wide - in the Seychelles for the princely sum of 8,000, and he has been living there ever since.

  • JW, I was speaking only to the local radio guys in Columbia. You and Tony (and JC yesterday) have been absolutely correct from the get go - Heffner and K-Mac ought to subscribe here since they apparently have no sources of their own.

  • So basically less walk-on scholarships are divied up in the next few years?

  • So JW, we can only have 82 scholarship players on the team for 2013 and 2014. If I read you right, that means we can sign a full class those two years. Through attrition, transfers and maybe walk on schollies not being renewed...we should not be effected. For example, take Patrick Fish's and Seth Strickland's schollie and that's two right there for next year.
    I think we'll be OK.

  • What was Heffner and K Mac predicting?

The only non-self-imposed penalties are the 3 years of probation and 3 lost scholarships for 2 years?

Were we proposing 2 and 2?

No, the probation was self imposed. We proposed the scolarship loss to be 1-3-2, the imposed none for 2012, and 3 the next two years. Very minute detail.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your stance on Heffner and K-Mac. I will say that this city has some very misinformed reporters and journalist with strong opinions that are either flat out wrong or just incredibly stupid. It is up to the listener/reader to decipher who to trust and who is a clown. My suggestion is to ignore the poele who aren't any good and they'll eventually go away.

  • Whittle -

Thats not how I interpet this statement:

Reduction of initial football scholarships by three (from the 25 maximum) during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years (self-imposed by the university).

I read that as we can have only 82 on scholarship, and only bring in 22 for 2 years as well. Am I reading that wrong?

You are exactly right. Not only did I miss that today, I missed that in December. Can only sign 22 players as a part of the 2014 and 2015 recruiting classes. The 2012 number of 85 and 2013 signing class of 25 remain uneffected.
