Connor Shaw

  • Obviously, he is the key next week. Don't get me wrong, our OT's need to block like they have played the game before but if we can get the old Connor back we should be fine. For some reason, he is mentally not thinking very well while out there. He is not sure where or when to throw the ball, has happy feet and resorts to scrambling to quickly and continues to take unnecessary sacks. He needs to allow the game to slow down for himself. Teams are keying on him running the ball which has closed that option for him and made him one dimensional. He is much more effective when he can run and throw. No one works harder than Shaw. I expect he will come out on Saturday night focused and ready to play.

  • Agreed. Struggled yesterday big-time. The OL has got to share some of the blame also. klimpsun's defense is worse than tennessee's, though, and that should be just what the Dr. ordered.

Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.

  • Without a threat of him running, we are going to see a ton of players close to the line and zone coverage all day long. He's going to have to figure out how to throw receivers open and anticipate the open spots in the zone quick or we are going to have to run for 300 yards with Miles and Davis

The rug really tied the room together, did it not?

  • Seems like he has lost all faith in the oline and some of the receivers as well. Oline protection yesterday was terrible. Difficult to tell if receivers are covered but he needs to do exactly what spurrier says, stick his foot in the ground and let it go. Oline has to be better and receivers need to get some separation. Its hard to tell if they were able to do that watching on computer. He is the anti-garcia, thinks too much, also I think his health is also an issue right now.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

Watched the game live and Shaw just would not release the ball. Saw several plays where receivers were running to open spots. He also stays back in the pocket too long. After about 2 seconds he needs to step up like a Bray or Wilson. That is why these guys had so few sacks against them before we played them. They know how to step up in the pocket and hit the third or fouth option. Shaw still does not have that ability. I still contend that his height is a problem as well. And if he is not a strong threat to run then that could make for a tough weekend coming up. I know Wofford is a tough team to play because of the option but that does not explain how poorly we played on offense yesterday.

  • I do not know how we played so well on O in the first quarter with like 22 plays, 150+ yards and 8 first downs and then struggle in the 3 following quarters. Do not forget 2 TOs in the RZ.
