Connor Shaw's performance

  • I love Connor Shaw and he gives us the best chance to win without question, but I think he will have trouble sleeping tonight and is the biggest reason we lost tonight (not the only one).

That missed pass for an easy TD to Byrd simply cannot be missed. He missed a lot of open guys for big plays and Spurrier is completely miffed about Shaw's decision making.

The first INT where he missed a wide open Anderson ended up being the difference in winning and losing in my opinion.

The bottom line is that we will never reach our potential and win the biggest of games until Shaw takes his steps and throws the ball on time. Everytime he does this.....we look awesome....but his fear is holding him back.

The Oline not being able to block in the run game and the defense's performance on 3rd down all game really hurt, but we really still had every chance to win that game if Shaw makes just a few more makeable plays that were there to be had.

The UF game is massive and hopefully we will dig deep.

  • h he killed us. Absolutely horrible. No confidence. Terrible audibles. Interception was the game. He and Spurrier should not sleep for a week.

  • Let me start by congratulating LSU. Chavous called a hell of game and they played very well on the defensive front. That being said.....

Play calling sucked. It didn't allow for rhythm.

O-line did no favors for the passing or running game.

Shaw played out of whack most of the game. He just didn't see wide open guys. The interception he threw after rolling left cost us the game.

Byrd needed to catch the deep ball that hit him in the hands.

Again, kudos to the LSU d-line.

Now.... waaaahhhhhhh. Put it behind us and go kick the crap out of UF!!

I think OL deserves credit for good pass protection. Too bad that didn't translate into effective passing. hard to believe they blocked for the pass so well and so poorly for the run.

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • Not a great night for Connor, but, this was a team loss - D line was dominated, O line was dominated, special teams struggled again (other than Ace's punt return). Knew the O line would struggle, but I'm still shocked the D line had as tough a night as they did against 3 replacements, two of whom were true freshman. Oh well!

Why is that hard to believe? have you been asleep for the last 6 weeks, because that has been the case all year-for some reason.

Seemed to me that the LSU plan for much of the night was to use the DE's to get upfield but not too far so as to give Comnor running lanes. They were content to move the pocket towards him without losing contain while dropping 7 into coverage making it hard to find anyone to throw to.
Not to say that the pass blocking wasn't good at times but I also think LSU wanted to guard against Connor making plays with his feet which is a strength. When we ran it they were all over it.

  • Have we won a big away game with shaw at QB?

    swayinandplayin

  • Poor. Still pulling for the kid. I'm pissed off but he gets to live the cheap shots this week. Hope we kill florida and he gets a break. Tough night. Go cocks!

Connor Shaw has lost two games as a starting QB. Your question is poor.

If you're trying to make a point make it. You've asked that question in multiple threads. I have a hunch it's not really a question at all.

  • Connor is not a great qb and has a weak arm but he is the best we have Spurrier has not had the great qb since he got here. I thought this would be one position he would have success in when he came here and his offenses has been average. We hsve won alot of games with great defenses

  • Tonight wasn't the night for shaw. Obviously we all saw his biggest miss, w busta open. That said the Oline was great, gave him time and space to make plays. Unfortunately there was nothing there for shaw and when he had time, he panicked. The dline showed my worst fears, we aren't ready for a team to run at us. We are built for the spread/the pass and until we have elite LBs, we will struggle vs the run. That said any goal USC has/had is still in play, starting w fla sat 10/20.

I agree that improved LB play would have helped but our DTs were mauled.

Every sec game is big. Every bowl game is big. Tenn. and Miss St. And Nebraska come to mind. Oh yeah while at home I seem to recall we beat a 5th rank UGA team 35 to 7 . So we lost by 2 points to a very talented team at their place at night and they have rarely lost their. He did not play well just like most others but dont try to make it sound like he is not a great QB and winner for us because he is.

  • Some do you people are piss-poor fans. Shaw was a beast last week and this week he is worthless? I am sure everyone of you calling him out had impeccable college football careers of your own. Maybe we can start a thread where you reminisce about the time you led the Cocks to victory in Death Valley, LA during a night game.

  • Shaw obviously didn't have his best game, but I think the game was lost on both sides of the line of scrimmage.LSU controlled both sides for most of the game.

    This for the most part.

IMO, even being the case.... 2 plays were the difference; the int intended for a wide open Anderson which put the D right back on the field ( kudos for all the goal line stands) & then the long run that followed.

I believe they will see this & feel the same way. We know UF's attack will be similar so we have to correct it & man up & win the East next week.
