It looks like this will be another game with a lot of 3rd down opportunities, for the defense and offense. Converting and stopping will be the key to this game. Our guys did not get off the field last week and we just did not convert enough to make a difference. If we hold Florida to 33% or less on 3rd down and we convert 50% or more I believe we win this game going away. If we don't this one will be real close, may again come down to red zone defense.
Thanks, Captain Obvious.
To me, this points out that the actual key is 1st and 2nd down. UF needs to be behind schedule to set up 3rd and longs. LSU seemed to always end up in 3rd and 2. No way we don't get worn down if Florida is in short yardage situations on 3rd down all day long. They'll move the chains often enough if they're consistently in short yardage situations.
The flip side is a little different, IMO. We had several 3rd and shorts last week but often couldn't get the short yardage on the ground and needed some true heroics to move the chains on a few instances. So offensively, we have to prove we can get the tough yards on the ground when we need them.
Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think.
There are no evil thoughts except one: The refusal to think.
I think first down is very important also. We have forced them to throw the last two years. We need to do this again today!
