We've lost twice on Thursday under Spurrier. At Vandy and vs Auburn.
Lost at Vandy on a Thursday in 2008.
But the only Thursday night loss in Williams-Brice that I can think of was in 2006, when we almost pulled off the upset against Auburn when they came in ranked #2. Crowd gave the Gamecocks a standing O as they came off the field, which caused SOS to admonish Carolina fans not to applaud losses. Lot of the older fans couldn't understand that, because losing valiantly is what the Gamecocks had always done. Now we finally understand what SOS meant.
Agree that Thursday night crowds in W-B, though slightly smaller, are usually louder than Saturday crowds. My take on it is that the people who take the trouble to show up for Thursday games are really into the Gamecocks, whereas the Saturday crowds include a lot of folks who are there mainly for the tailgating.

I don't think there'll be any problem fielding a strong crowd for the season opener. I also think we'll draw plenty of TV audience. Any JV games that would be ongoing at 6 would still be ongoing at 7:30, I don't think that merits an OOPS.
Certainly some people will have trouble getting off of work. If it were scheduled for 9 people would complain about getting to work on Friday. Can't please everybody.
Most people will be able to stay awake to watch a 6 o'clock game ending around 9:30 compared to a 9 o'clock game ending around 12:30 a.m. Should be more people in the stands towards the end of the game because of it.
TarHoles don't show up for their own games. If they don't show up for their own home games they certainly will not show up for an away game in a city or university they arrogantly look down upon by describing as the "armpit" of the South.
I know lots of Tarheels who are planning on going, and they all think we are going to kill them. Playing in an SEC stadium & SEC atmosphere is a bigger attraction to outsiders than we realize sometimes.
Game 2 is in the central time zone. I get it. I don't like it though.
Just hope everybody understands something
1. Scar has zero choice in the matter. We play when ESPN says we play
2. ESPN doesn't care about the fans attending the game. Not even a little.
Two games one night not hard to figure out
So do I and I know lots of them who are not coming. They won't come closing to filling their allotment of seats.
I'll be there and I am hoping that Coach Spurrier hangs a hundred on them and Clowney is unleashed in their backfield. A humiliating return to Hole de Crappelle is the only thing I want to see and hear about on Friday, August 30th and IMO that is still not good enough for them.
I know that Fedora is working hard to fit in among the hole fans.

Don't count on them showing up...if history is an indicator, they will try to weasel out of coming south
I upvoted just because you used the word crunk. Its going to be interesting. Somebody needs to let Pastides know to shut down campus at 2pm to decrese city traffic problems. Not like students will be going to class or using any services other than the Russell. Can we get college gameday? or are they locked into the uga/clemson game already? It should be a decent turn-out, prolly 65-70k. Yeah the time stinks but you got six months to go to work sick and sleeping on couches because you told your wife you were not going to the doctor so you could go to this game. Its not convienent, be really anything other than a Saturday night game is inconvienent, and even that has its drawbacks.
