...or an innocent comment. I read though the presser notes and didn't see it but I know he said it because I heard it that back in 2010 we let KY convert 9 out of 12 3rd downs and several of those were over 10 yards. Then he said we don't don't do that any more. Knowing the ol' ball coach it probably was a dig

Spurrier was taking a dig @ mr. Johnson (aka Tater EJ)
Or he is just saying we are better defensively which we are. Spurrier knows what won us 11 games last year, and he always gave Johnson and his D the credit it deserved.

Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
You may be exactly right. I have no idea what he really meant by it.
Yep. Mentioned that alot of them were 3rd and 15, 3rd and 12, etc. I thought he was taking a shot at EJ myself (and rightfully so).
taken from WG's notes:
"They outplayed us, they converted some third downs that were long and that is not going to happen this year, we have a sound defensive scheme."
sure sounded like a dig when I first read it.
Maybe just praise for Whammy.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

He is doing no more than telling the truth imo. Facts are facts. Spurrier likes EJ but it is what it is.
I believe he also said that our defense played really well against Kent last year mentioning that we only allowed 100 yrds or so.
I agree KSig, I don't think HBC would thow Coach Johnson under the bus like that.
He helped us win alot of games including 3 in a row over Klempson. He was usually very good scheming an preparing against our opponents.
When I watched the HBC show on Sunday, he seemed to say all of the coaches should have done a better job at Kentucky 2 years ago, mainly him, sign of a great leader.
I thank EJ for the job he did for us and I am even more excited about what I think Coach Ward is going to do for us in coaching and recruiting. These kids will run thru a brick wall for Whammy!
