An unnamed NFL team sent Sean Elliot plane tickets to come up and interview with them. He mailed them back in the same envelope and didn't even call them back. TIFWIW
He's got a sweet gig calling the Spurs games, not sure why he'd coach in the NFL.
Where do you hear these things? I'm not disputing you, I'm just curious. Are you hearing it's still not over with David Johnson?
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Doubt it. Seems like a phone call would make more sense than buying plane tickets and mailing them.
The same place he heard the time of the usc clem game.

Thanks for the tidbit! It seeming more likely that he is positioning himself to be the next head coach after SOS retires
I think SCarcock is connected, and most of what he says is true, btw. I was just curious where he heard this. If he cannot disclose such info, I understand.
I don't believe he can disclose this info FWIW.
ha How long have you been reading his posts? The majority of what he says is so far off that you know he has to be joking.
That's kind of like asking Tony who he gets his info from. Thanks for passing along OP.

No Johnson is all over. Done deal to SCar barring something unforeseen.
I heard it through a source that is very connected to the program. For some reason they kept this quiet, probably to prevent speculation.
I doublechecked with my source on this one I didn't want to look like an idiot because I agree it seemed a little odd.
Elliot is all gamecock right now, barring an OC or HC at a BCS school he's not going anywhere.
Yep heard the same thing from a former player who was in town 2 weeks ago he didn't say NFL though but just team. I think he's a reliable source being that he played and started under Elliot here and still talks to home regular. One of my longest friends TC if you can't figure out who that is well, oh well.

Oh my...I hope not! We have positioned ourselves nicely to go out and hire a proven head coach, not an experiment with the possibility of disaster.
No offense, but what has Elliot done to make someone believe he is better than an average coach? We have very good players and our o-line run blocking this year was awful. It seems only to have been effective before this year because we had a healthy Lattimore who was perfect for the zone read scheme. Can he coach without a zone read type back? Can he adjust? He is still unproven and we have people who want him as our next head coach. I need to see more out of him personally.
To me, it is plain as day that Elliot is not just a good, but a great coach. That is why teams like Fla have come after him so hard. Elliot will most definitely be a strong contender for the HC at USC once The HBC retires. Some people won't like it, some will.
Agreed Steve. Unfortunately there are many "experts" on this board that claim he isn't worth his salt. IMO, those people probably don't know the game very well
Part of being literate means reading and comprehending. I did not claim that Elliot "is not worth his salt", simply that he is still unproven. I also do not understand why we would gamble with the momentum that we have going now and hire an unproven coach to lead our team. Would be a very unprofessional move.
At no point did I say that YOU did say that so don't get all upset. There have been plenty of idiots on this board questioning even his ability as A OL coach. I am referring to those guys. Make no mistake about it though when he was hired we started this upward trend in winning 9-11 games. And just to play devils advocate there have been a lot of other coaches w/o head coaching experience that have been really successful. I think a lot of people think we will be able to get whoever we want to replace SOS. IMO, that's not the reality. Are we a good program, yes. Are we elite, no.
Wow. Some of you guys will believe anything. When is the last time you did not get your boarding pass at the airport when you check in? You think a multi billion dollar business mails people plane tickets? Not to mention the many other reasons that make this stupid to believe.
Go! Fight! Win! Kick Ass!
Plus what kind of person would be far enough along in an interview process to be invited to travel for an in-person interview and do something as unprofessional as returning the ticket without bothering to explain?
I would have expected Lute Olson to have taught Eliot better manners when he coached him at Arizona.
I'm sure Spurrier's guys, like Shawn Elliot, for example, would never do such a thing.
