The current lineup with Fowler and Corso is totally played out. They jumped the shark several years ago. I would love to see ESPN bring in some better talent and change things around. I know SVP is a contributor now but he should be the host of the thing. Fowler is getting old and looks plastic. I remember him doing Scholastic Sports America back in the late 80s. Van Pelt is funny and tells it like it is. I like Todd Blackledge too. I would watch if they paired up SVP with Blackledge and Herbstreit. I'm also sick of Rece, Holtz, and Mayday. It's not funny any more. They have some guys who do a good job like Jay Walker, who would be a good addition. I don't mind Desmond Howard, although I enjoy the Ismail brothers more.
I do like Holtz and May in the Studio.
Other than that, I basically agree. Less Corso, Less Fowler, More SVP.
Granted I don't watch the show like I use to but I watched some of it Saturday and still enjoyed it.
I will say that I feel horrible for Corso, he is not the same after his stroke and while I never really took him seriously to begin with I always enjoyed what he brought to the show. Now they just are keeping him around and he needs to be put out of his misery. I know they want to find that guy to bring some levity to the show and keep things loose while Herbstreet and Howard break things down but Corso has gotten painful to watch.
Also, I still like Chris Fowler, I like how he runs the show and again, with Herbstreet and Howard breaking things down I thought Saturday was solid except for Corso.
As for the studio show, I like Rece, Lou and Mark May. Lou and May seem to have a good balance and it overs some humor with great insight.
All in all, I still get a kick out of both shows but they do have to do something with Corso.
On a side note, has anybody ever seen Beano Cook in person...or the rest of his body. I honestly think he is just a robotic head that appears from time to time to talk.

Didn't Beano coach John Heisman in rec football?

I think Herbstreit and Howard are a good duo and bring very good insight for a national conglomerate like ESPN. It's actually probably not too easy to find someone capable of being unbiased and as knowledgeable about the entire footnall landscape. Those types just don't grow on trees. I don't think they know as much as a really tuned in guy who covers the SEC or ACC, etc...but it's hard to find someone with the capacity to talk freely, knowledgeably and, in most cases, accurately, about 120 teams.
Fowler has grown very proud of himself in recent years, like Gamedy is 'his' show. He comes across as arrogant and snide more so each year. About 3 years ago I felt like he should be challenged by Rece Davis, but in the past two years, I actually think Rece Davis has gotten worse than Fowler. I actually think Rece Davis borders on unprofessional now. As a host of a show, he is supposed to set the stage for discussion, not joust his opinions to the tune of making fun of other programs. I think his Bama is coming out in him (Much like mr Updyke professed last year). He's acting like he's as 'untouchable' as his beloved crimson tide.
May and Holtz is tired as well. There is so much pre determined 'good cop, bad cop' with that show you have no idea if you are getting real or even remotely valuable info/insight. I also don't know if they genuinely dislike each other or have just been in a small studio together too long but they don't seem to respect each other at all anymore and it makes the show seem like a cartoonish side show. I think may is actually even more over the top early on this year. So much that he's making facial expressions to the camera while holtz is talking, rolling eyes, etc..making it look like he's not even listening. May is articulate and a smart guy, but he's obnoxious now and I'm not sure holtz is capable of sticking with one train of thought more than 15 minutes at a time.
I don't know who quality replacements are, or what, but it's just dumbing down the experience and insulting the intelligence of knowledgable college football fans.
It's no different than any 'news' source on tv though. Real opinion in today's society can be nothing other than questioned by me because of the agenda of the show. Your opinion is what the producers want it to be. If early on in a shows life, feedback on a certain subject or 'schtick' spikes, then you can bet its forced down the throats of the audience and run in the ground.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
I love Gameday.
