Even though Bengi is a known tater, I respect the point of view the guy brings to the early game every morning. To be honest, he is a breath of fresh air from the usual homers that call into the show. Before everyone jumps on me calling me a tater, I am a USC alum and huge Gamecock fan. I just want some honest opinions.
Now I know some of you may disagree, but I was arguing this with a few friends of mine and they can't stand him. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts?
He doesn't bother me.
He's only that way because we're winning. That changes so will he.
He's a top 40 radio guy that doesn't have enough knowledge of sports to qualify him for a man card and has no business on a sports talk station. I listen to XM anyway because local sports talk is so bad. I had my fill of the moderators' daily calls with cool cat, orange blood, cockit, guru, etc. long ago.

He doesn't bother me either.
Seriously does he have another choice other than to bring a level opinion to a Carolina Market? Carolina has been pretty damn good over the last two year so saying positive things about USC is not being a homer.

The guy is not funny, and knows less about sports than my dead grandmother...
This. I've stopped listening mainly because of him.
I usually don't listen to the Early Show, but when I do, he's not that bothersome. Granted, he knows more about being a top 40 DJ than sports, so I am assuming he was brought in to take the edginess off morning sports talk. I don't even think he knows that much about tater sports.
Have never cared for any tater tot radio/TV/player/coach etc.etc......Can take their cheating National Championship and jump into a mud hole for all I care......
A grown man that goes by Benji? What is he 12? go by ben or something.
He doesn't bother me most of the time. I'll probably change my tune if they ever beat us. I did cringe today when he did an on air add for a local contractor and mentioned that the guy was a big Clemson fan. If I were that contractor I'd really prefer he not mention that little bit of info on the Gamecock flagship.
How does a Clemson guy like that end up on the USC Flagship Station?
Not sure, and there have defintely been times when he irked me. I suppose this domimation thing we have going has made all of their fans more tolerable for me.
I have taken it a step further, guy bothers me so much I REFUSE to ever buy or use a product he does ads for.
He be no good.
"You’re either a block-gobbler, a farmer, or you’re a damn hunter and playmaker."
They have a golden opportunity to put a great product on the air and make a killing but 107.5 is either one big infomercial or amateur night. Get a seasoned Jock with a Mike Greenberg personality to keep the breaks on time, play referee, and direct the ship. Throw in a Gamecock sports junkie who actually knows the history, current rosters, and buzz on campus. Thirdly, find another Deuce type former player with great personality. There are too many dry, butt-clinched Bob Costas types in sports media already, give me a guy who is opinionated and original. You are the big stick in the market and people are begging for a quality product. There is saying in radio circles that says "You never talk about ANY topic that you aren't passionate about". The reason is, smart people can tell when you are mailing it in. There is a reason Rush, Savage, and those guys have a huge following regardless of the topic, it is because they do they're prep and they always talk about things they're passionate about.
