Probably because that POS driver was looking at his phone instead of the road. No way you do not see a cow in the road.
Much of that appears to be, um, stomach contents? ;)
SEC - Iron sharpens iron.
Eat mor chikin.
If a cow is standing in the middle of the road, or walks into the road, what exactly is the driver of a semi supposed to do about it? They're trained not to make sudden evasive maneuvers to avoid animals. Too much can go wrong that could end up with them, or others, dead. Screw the cow.
It's possible this was predawn out in the middle of nowhere and he couldn't see Bessie in enough time to stop his rig...
...or he could have been texting his boo.
That is a 1750 dollar fine so I hope not. And its not real easy to stop those trucks so take it easy on the driver.
Is Dilbert is mourning?
Probably a black cow on a black road...karma is a bitch
This. I was in CA last week and had the opportunity to vist Sequoia and Yosemite. TWICE in one day some tree hugging loon locked the breaks of their prious/pregnant roller skate car down for a SQUIRREL and nearly caused a multi-car collision. We were in a Ram 2500 with nowhere to go but beside them (thankfully no one was coming). If we hadn't been paying attention to the idiots in front of us someone probably would've been mangled. I love my dogs, but I will not swerve nor lock the breaks down to miss any animal too much bad can happen (might swerve to HIT a possum though haha). Let off the gas and lay on the horn. The animal will move or it won't, but the people will be better off.

Wow. Hopefully the Clemson fan pulled out in time.
2012 Season stats: 143 carries, 662 yards, 11 TD's; 26 catches, 173 yards;
Praying for a full recovery, Marcus. God Bless You!
I slam on my brakes for squirrels. There is two ways to look at things like this. The first way is to think that the animal is in our way. The other way to look at it is, we built the road in their way. I choose the latter. I go out of my way to spare the lives of other inhabitants of the planet. Maybe I am silly, but it is the way I am.
I feel bad for the cow. Why was a cow out in the middle of the road? You would think an alert driver could see a cow from a long ways off. Miss is kind of flat.

Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
I am not going to take offense to this....I know that most people have poor perceptions of truckers. You probably have driven by a million in lifetime but because a few instances..think bad things.
First off a truck is not going to stop on a dime..it takes the better part of a 1/2 mile to stop while driving at highway speeds. A trucker is not going to swerve to miss a animal...that is a good way to flip your rig...the animal will just have to visit Jesus. Very few people...scan the sides of roads vigilently....as they drive..just watching for a stray cow. The open range...this happens fairly often.
I highly doubt it was an instance of texting...truckers can lose their license on the spot and it is conscidered as big a deal as DUI. Also..to be quite frank....truckers are not the type of people that text....I myself resfuse to do it on princapal....and also somehow fear..it will make me be a little closer to gay..if I did.
It isn't a big deal on a moped....hell of your willing to risk your life for a squirrel..be my guest..just do not make that choice for others. Personally....I am more valuable than any animal.
The flag will be flying at half mast tomorrow in Clemson and there will be a moment of silence Saturday.
Well it looked pretty dark outside and I doubt you can stop an 18 wheeler on a dime.
"People always ask me if I wish I were bigger. I tell them no. I always wanted to be a miniature badass." Dustin Pedroia
I didn't know you passed through clemson from Idaho to Mississippi.
He probably wasnt standing in the road, the cow, more likely ran into the road. They have learned to run fast...at least the cows in the upstate have learned to run fast.
"It ain't the size of the dog in the fight..."
So let me get this straight. A guy you've never met is a POS because you assume he was texting and that's why he hit a cow? All because the guy in this picture that may or may not be the driver of the truck is using his cell phone while standing next to the truck?
Cool theory brah.
