their 4th in a row to us. This is as hyped as I have ever seen them. It is like a forgone conclusion that they will win. So much is riding on our game for them.
If they lose, at home, with all of the hype about the offense, they might not even want to go to their bowl game.
Then, they have to think about coming to Cola next year with a chance to lose 5 in a row.
I think they will have so much pressure on them, they might play their worst game, not their best.
SC should be pretty loose. Who's picking the Cocks? Nobody.
I'll be there, about 4 rows from the top.
The last time I was there we won when Jad Dean missed the kick to tie the game. I would take that right now. Love a blowout but happy with a 1 pointer.
Gamecocks Love Barbeque !!
I honestly don't see any difference in this years match up compared to the past few years except that we've gotten better and they've stayed the same. Same recipe as usual. Pressure Boyd, win the game.
I'll take Bitter Rivals for 200 Alex! These 2 teams have been bitter rivals since the 1880s, and a heated rivalry continues to this day for a variety of reasons, including the historic tensions regarding their respective charters and the passions surrounding their athletic programs. Carolina vs Taters...Alex responds, we'll accept that
The look on the faces of our bitter rivals will be beyond priceless knowing that it's 4 in a row and next year will be 5. I'm laughing already...fun fun fun. Can't wait to hear their excuses this time. They'll make up something for sure. Can hardly wait!
mmm mmm mmm "South Carolina Gamecocks" Good
I'm not buying that they're no better than last year. Their offense has a better understanding of the system and their receivers are better. Boyd is better too, IMO. I can't say about their defense, b/c it's pretty bad. But I do think they're better than they were before.
That said, they are really bad in the trenches and we should affect Boyd relatively easily. He is more elusive than he used to be, but he is also still prone to some seriously stupid mistakes. Against Wake Forest, he literally threw the ball backwards and the play was whistled dead. If they had reviewed it, they would have had to back them up about 20 yards. I look for more of that type of play, especially as the game goes on.
Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think.
There are no evil thoughts except one: The refusal to think.
They're definitely worse on defense and I can't say they're much different than last year offensively. The ACC was extra terrible this year, even compared to last year. I don't think any BCS conference has ever been as bad as the ACC this year overall, even the big east.
They really are convinced that they'll beat us. Listened to the radio today in Gville and all they were talking about was their matchup with Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
I have heard some of their fans say Dabo has to go if he loses to Carolina this year. He won't be fired because they beat a bunch of Mothers State teacher College schools and think they are wonderful. But, if he has a bad year - maybe 6-6 and loses to Carolina for 5 in a row he is gone.
They are not ready for the smash mouth football coming their way...,plain and simple. They might win a game of flag football though.
The best ranking of any team they have beaten is Duke at 58. We are better than Duke. I think NC State may beat them.
Holler If You Hear Me!
I certainly hope you're right. I don't think they've improved enough to beat us, but they seem more potent and less apt to be completely shut down than they were last year. They're just as able to be exposed on the lines and via turnovers from their QB who doesn't know much about what pressure really is.
I would rather be wrong and just be seeing the results of them playing a high school schedule. That very well could be the case and it is what I'll hope for b/c as I say I think we should win anyway but would rather see us just expose them for the frauds they are.
Their defense is terrible, but they'll be better on offense this season. Watkins and Ellington were gimpy last year and Hopkins dropped 3 passes. I think they will score 24-28. If we don't get a case of the stupids (UF) we should easily score more than that.
When I was younger, I had a bumper sticker that said, "If I owned Hell & Clemson, I would rent out Clemson and live in Hell"
The bottom line is that Clemson is very good on offense, and not so hot on defense. Fortunately for us, their scary numbers have come against lackluster competition. We need to play a good game on defense and a good game on offense to win. It doesn't have to be the best game of the year for either side of the ball.
I have a feeling Clemson fans are being built up like I was when I thought Romney was going to win by watching foxnews (please don't start a political thread). When they lose, they will not want to get out of bed a couple of days bc they feel like they got a kick in the nuts.
My son's message to Obama, Clemson, and Georgia
They are without a doubt better on offense top to bottom than they were last year. Boyd is better, the wr core is deeper and their oline has overachieved. Hell, the starters haven't played a whole game in a month and a half. This is mainly due to the level of competition, but they did throw up 37 on the road against FSU. We have been dynamite at home and turnover prone on the road. If we play like we have on the road against them (turnovers, inability to run) its going to be a long night. I believe we are the best defense they will see and we will be able to move the football at will, if we avoid mistakes. We win the trenches and play smart we should win the game, imo. Connor's play and the ability to run the football along with our oline and dline play will go along way in deciding the outcome. One thing is for sure, the schedule we played and the schedule they played has absolutely ZERO to do with the outcome of the game.
The biggest thing that i am concerned about in this game is that we don't have Gilmore to lock down one side of the field. Our secondary has looked good, okay, and flat out bad at times. Also, their OL didn't turn out to be complete swiss cheese garbage this year as expected. I think they have only given up like 10 sacks all season.
IF we play our best game of the year, i think we win by double digits. However, if the road team we've seen all year shows up in death valley lite, then i think the clempson fans are going to be insufferable the next few weeks.
The one caveat is that SOS will surely be masterminding some of his best stuff from a play-calling standpoint.. Given his relationship w/ Dabo as of late as well as the personal/team goals on the line in this game, I think he wants to win this one as bad as any other in his career.

Not a matter of if they lose...it is when and that will be around 10pm on 11/24/12.

I really don't get the hype. They've played one decent team this year, and lost. I've seen national media guys everywhere penciling them into the Sugar Bowl which means they think they'll beat us. Herbstreit, who I normally agree with on most things, tweeted yesterday that he'd "be surprised if Clemson doesn't finish 11-1". Really? He'd be "surprised" if after beating them three years in a row, which includes two games up there that we, an 8-2 SEC team that destroyed SEC east "champ" UGA, playing with experience on the road from the real DV and The Swamp went into LDV (little Death Valley) and won? I just don't get it. Only thing I can figure is that when Latt went down these people just wrote us off. Do they have no memory? They can't remember just one year ago when Latt went down and we went 6-1 without him including curb stomps of both Clemson and Nebraska? Do these "experts" not realize that Clemson has built up their toy confidence over the last three weeks against Wake, Duke and Maryland? WAKE, DUKE AND MARYLAND?!?!??!? Good grief.
I just don't get it.

Going to have to disagree.
They have significant injuries in their secondary. Their D-line is younger and worse. Their linebackers have far underperformed.
Their skill position players are still performing at a high level - but you have to take into account who they have been performing against. These are low-level ACC teams that simply get shell-shocked by their style of high-scoring, fast-paced offense. Not to mention that their OL is clearly younger and worse than last year. They are regressing along the line of scrimmage, NOT developing.
Boyd still can, and does, make mistakes when under pressure. Sammy and Nuke can be shut down by getting jammed at the line of scrimmage, knocking them off their routes and just getting played physical. Our DL will be in their backfield all day.
I do think they will bust a few big plays against us, but for the most part they won't be able to score.
Until their coaching staff abandons their style of high-performing skill players and "whoever we can find" to man the lines of scrimmage, this is the best they will ever be able to achieve, even in the nation's SIXTH TOUGHEST conference.
They are going to be scared, really quick, once they have to face an SEC defense.
I'll be yo huckleberry...
I agree with the premise of this post. If Clemson were to lose to us for the 4th strait year, their fanbase will be beside themselves. It is true that very few if any of their fasnbase can see us beating them. However, it also seems like our fanbase is the same way. The vast majority of fans on this board don't see anyway we lose to Clemson. We can't both be right. I certainly hope we win mainly because of that fact. I would love to see the meltdown their fanbase has if we win 4 in a row and they are left with wins against the weakest schedule I have ever seen. However, I do think their offense is legit and that they will score points against us.I will say that I thought the same thing last year and I was wrong. I also am concerned with how we have played on the road this year. We really haven't played well on the road except for the 2nd half of the Kentucky game. Also, heading into last year's game our offense started to click and it that momentum continued into the Clemson game where we played our best all around game of the year and dominated the game. I don't get that kind of feel this year especially with Shaw's foot bothering him and limiting his scrambling and lacking a go to receiver. Hopefully Bruce is turning into that guy with the way he has played the last few games. Also, if we blitz at the wrong time or too often they could torch us with some big plays. All I am saying is that I go to bed at night thinking about that game and I wake up in the moring thinking about that game and how bad I want to win it. However, I do not consider it a forgone conclusion by any means and we are going to have to break the trend we have set with bad road performances to get it done.
I pretty much agree with what you've said here. I think that the skill position players are improved but buoyed by their crappy schedule. I think we kill them on the LOS. Sho-nuff.
The only thing I don't know about is how much they'll score. They won't have their patented big plays for quick scores, but they'll bust loose once or twice, IMO. I think they can score a little bit on us, but by no means consistently. And I definitely do think we can consistently score on them.
How are yall better? Based on what?
Your Total Offense-Defense rankings are both worse than last year.
No idea if Clemson is better or worse than we were last year. But curious how you say yall are better than previous year.
