Don't know how most feel, but would LOVE to have Rumph as the DL coach. He will go hard on the recruiting trail. You can never have enough good recruiters.
Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I'd rather go in a different direction. The methods that he utilized to disparage his alma mater on the recruiting trail simply don't sit well with me. If you can't sell the positives and have to rely on knocking the competition for success, you're no salesman in my eyes. I realize that I'm probably in the minority, as most believe the ends justify the means these days, but I'd rather lose with integrity than win with deceit.
This........Just don't understand the thought process where he is concerned...Hire him and I don't see how anyone could argue with going after Petrino when it is time.....
Something about him once being at clemPson doesn't sit right with me. And I don't want to hear the "he's got to feed his family somehow" blah blah blah. Assistant coaches don't bother me as much as former players. That's just my personal opinion. Once you play for the Gamecocks and REALLY understand the rivalary you can't go coach there. That just drives me crazy. Maybe it's my hatred for clemPson so much and I'm making it bigger than it should be, but I was raised right and right means hate clemPson.
Two years ago I would have said no thanks. Today I would say it's worth looking at because he would not still be on Saban's staff if he was not a hard worker and if he was not a good coach. He may not be a good recruiter - or he may be - but Saban may be the most demanding coach out there in re to what he expects from his assistants with time, effort and results.
Everybody has a different opnion, but I'm in the camp of rather having a good coach (at DL) over recruiter "IF" I can't have both.
Rumph is a punk. Do I really need to rehash what he did to his own school???
I'm with you there.
He doesn't want to come here and we are done with that!
