He said Clemson was salivating after watching the Tennessee game about what they will do to us.
Sorry,Clemson, but there are three valid reasons why that will not help you.
1. You do not have Tyler Bray. Boyd has put up good numbers but against whom?
2. Your wide receivers are not as good as Tennessee's. Watkins, see above.
3. Offensive line. Compared to Tennessee's yours is on the level of a high school AA.
The caller referred to Tennessee's defense as the worst in the nation. They are bad but has Clemson taken a look at theirs? Refer to 1. again.
I knew they would respond that way..The key in your list of three is the Oline. I'm not sure I can agree with you about the WR quality
#3 will be the difference maker. You would think they would have learned that by now.
Tennessee has the best offensive line in the country. Before our game they gave up 3 sacks all year. Any secondary will struggle when you can't pressure the qb.
I think Boyd and the receivers are somewhat comparable, but the ol clearly is not.
I think we will need the offense to show up.
If we do the following three things, we should win fairly easily.
1. No turnovers.
2. Harass Boyd.
3. Play tight on their receivers to negate the quick throws.
Boyd won't have time for long pass plays. Clemson's O-line is nowhere near as good as Tennessee's.
How quickly the taters forget (or are too stupid to realize) that TN crushed NCSU who beat the best team in the EZZ (FSU). FSU hammered Clemsux too. TN would contend for the EZZ title this year if they were in that pathetic conference.
I feel that Clemson/UT are quite similar...Boyd/Bray are similar,, WRs are similar, and their defenses are similar...the difference is the OL, that will be what makes or breaks Clemson all year...
I heard this from the head Tater about 10 minutes after I waked in the door this morning. I said, "Their OL is #2 in the nation in sacks given up this season. What is Clempson ranked?" He mumbled something about a "passing offense" and walked out the door.
They said the same thing after the Arkansas game last year and we see how that turned out.
What they fail to realize besides the dramatic difference in Olines, which allowed UT time to throw for that many yards but also that UT, like Arkansas last year run a different offense than Clemson.
Clemson isn't patient enough dink and dunk down the field, which all the will have time to do against our front 4. The first incompletion or penalty will put them behind the chains and they will have to try to throw down the field a little and they won't be able to protect Boyd like UT did Bray.
If we execute on offense and don't turn it over, we will win going away.
Clemson doesn't have UT's OL or LSU or Florida's Defense. Not sure why they keep making comparisons.
I wonder if they salivated after our Arkansas game last year only to get beat for the 3rd year in a row a few weeks later. Clemsons offense is much closer to Missouri than UT.
''fair is not getting them same as everybody else, fair is getting what you need to succeed."
UT has played Fla, UGA, Miss St, USC, and Bama.
CU has played the likes of FSU, GT (def helps passing def), VT, WF, BC, etc.
the morning crew with Mickey Plyler said the same thing. Especially Larry Williams.
That distinction goes to bama, UT's is very good though, definitely top 3 in the conference.
I think we'll beat Clemson handily. Their OL is the problem for them. Their WRs are better than UT's and the QBs are about the same, except Bray has a stronger arm.
Fomerly known as Garnet&BlackAttack.
5 in a row
UT has a good Offense, they had like 478 yard against Georgia. Let Clemson Think what they want but didn't Tennessee beat NCST which beat FSU?
I watched the VT CU game and came away thinking that Shaw could possibly run for 200 yds against CU if we let him and run the zone read against that terrible defense
After 8 years, why don't we have a Tyler Bray? An Aaron Murray? Someone who can stand back there and pick the other team apart?
yeah Clemson's WRs are better. I would take Watkins and Hopkins over Patterson and Hunter. Then Clemson's overall depth at WR is far superior.
Bottom line is the game will hinge on (1) Clemson OL vs USC DL. Clemson will pull out all the stops on offense to win this one and USC better be completely and utterly ready. Clemson will short pass to death if they can and then set up the long passes; and (2) Connor Shaw. He must play very well on the road. Also, as we all know a lot of his performance is based on the success of the running game.
Online oline oline. The only reason Bray was able to throw like that was because he's playing behind the best line in the SEC, at least as far as pass protection goes. No one else has been able to throw on us because we've lived in their backfield. It's will be the same for us against Ark and Clemson because of their lines. They can't block us. (And UT couldn't either when it really mattered.)

Erin Murray? Seriously? I would take Connor Shaw over Murray every day of the week.
