Interesting. With Adams it'll be a few years before we can determine the worth of his hire. With Botkin that die was cast before he'd signed a contract. So much so that you opined that you sure hoped Whammy didn't hire another "buddy" for DLcoach.

Wow...you are really upset! Look, here is my point, as much as Corey can tick some of us off at times, he's also been very pro USC other times. I am fine with all of our coaches honestly. I think Coach Adams is a fine hire; have never said otherwise. When Coach Lawing left it was some of YOU that said we needed to go out and get a "home-run" hire; not me. My point is simply that Coach Adams doesn't seem to be a home-run hire to me. That does not mean he isn't a great coach and it doesn't mean he won't recruit well, it just means he hasn't been around long enough to be considered "in my eyes" at home-run hire. A "home-run" hire probably means something a little different to you than it does to me; no need to argue about it, it's all good. I think Coach Adams is a great addition to our staff but I can understand why some (i.e. Corey Miller and others) do not feel like he is that big hire they were hoping for. You guys are taking things I am posting and changing it to suit your own agenda.
Regarding your last paragraph, that is excellent! That would be my wish as well, that whether or not Christian ends up at USC, that there are no hard feelings and the relationship between the athletic department and the Miller family improves.
Yes, it will probably take a few years of having a coach on staff to know his true worth and yes, I've said a few times that I hoped Coach Ward didn't just go out and hire his buddy. Even JC posted before that Coach Ward had made a few "out of the box" hires. Go back and find a post where I said anything bad about Coach Botkin when he was hired though. You can't find it because I have never spoke ill of the man, just like I've never said anything bad about Coach Adams. It's just that several times in Coach Ward's short stay he's hired his friends and so far Jeep Hunter has left and up until a week ago, Botkin hadn't even been the recruiter of record for one commitment. But yes, I would agree that he deserves more time as well before an opinion has been reached on his ability to coach, evaluate and recruit; fair enough.
That's excellent news then! Sounds like he's settling in. My point was simply that I feel Corey Miller has brought up some points that have been brought up on this board as well. One was Botkin's ability to build relationships. Prior to the past few weeks, we didn't hear the wonderful reports of how this recruit and that recruit loves him. It was mentioned several times on this site that the opposite was the case and many people wondered why he hadn't been able to land one recruit.
It was mentioned by one "famous" poster, and his sheep then began to parrot his thoughts.
I think you are suffering from confirmation bias. It was brought up by one guy, who was obviously in the midst of a temper tantrum, and a few people believe anything he says. You have your typical negative nellies, that look for crisis, that maybe added him to their list of egregious errors by SOS, but I can't recall one rational person that said anything other than he needs some time to get acclimated. Now, it seems that every interview with a commit or a recruit has rave reviews of Botkin.
The select few wrote him off from the get go just because he had a family issue that necessitated him coaching in high school for a year. It just goes to show that, once again, Spurrier knows what he's doing. He's got this ship headed in the right direction, and there is no need to seek out signs of impending doom.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
To get Respect you have to give Respect........
Like I said before, and i'm ex-military just like my Father was, and my Grandfather was, A man is only as good as his word.
So if you speak the Truth, and stick by your word, that will take you further in life than almost anything, but God!
Yeah, we just finished with the #21 recruiting class. We are so awesome at recruiting that we don't need any 4 or 5 star studs.
What a joke.
So you would rather us take Christian over BAW as our linebacker in this class?
Deke was a home run hire. I know this because I read what folks that know a lot about recruiting and coaching had to say about it.
I'm not jumping on Boogity, but there is no way for a D-Line coach to be a home run hire as defined in her post. There's not a D-Line coach out there that most everybody has heard of.
