Jesus H. Christ!
Some of these comments, man! We had zero running game, and were playing in the worst environment in the country. The DL got dominated, the OL got dominated, Marcus had nowhere to go, etc.
Blaming this loss on Shaw is equivalent to blaming it on Marcus. There was only so much he could do. Shaw is a great QB. One of the best in the country. We ran into a buzz saw last night. Have some class, people.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Football is the ultimate team game. You win together, you lose together. I'll take Shaw as my QB if nobody else wants him. In fact, I'll share a foxhole with him. Sometimes in all things in life your best isn't good enough, but it's all you got. Shaw's best has been good enough 90% of the time. He will be back!
Exactley! ^^^^ Opposing defenses will try to make our QB be a QB and beat them with his Arm.
You do realize that we don't have another opponent on our schedule who can both control the LOS (and make no mistake about it, LSU's scheme largely involved just containing Shaw and keeping him in the pocket with no running lanes) and cover the receivers that effectively, don't you?
There isn't a team left that can "force Shaw to beat them with his arm" the way LSU did. They played their best game of the year and won by dominating/controlling the trenches and imposing their will. Shaw is not only the best QB that Spurrier has had here, but he is better than any QB I can remember (I was too young to remember Jeff Grantz, but that's the only one in my lifetime to have had a chance).
Blaming the loss on him is asinine, and as "old Carolina" as it gets. I wish we could learn to not eat our own and admit that sometimes we just play a better team than us on a given night. Their 22 were better than our 22. That is just how it was.
Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think.
There are no evil thoughts except one: The refusal to think.
Not blaming loss on him. It was a team loss. Just stating the obvious in my opinion that teams will try to duplicate what LSU did. Shaw is Winner but for SC to take the next step he has to be a throwing QB as well as. Running QB. Even Coach Spurrier was frustrated with him. LSU deserves credit for the way they played. Very Hostile environment to play in and hopefully the team can learn from it.

The pass to Byrd was not great, but certainly good enough that it should have been caught for a forty yard gain.
He didn't have his best game, but he is NOT the reason we lost. The line of scrimmage was. We may have had an opportunity to win if he would have played better, just like we would have had a chance if the OL blocked better against the run or if the defense held up against the run. There is a myriad of reasons as to why we lost.
Not many QBs have great games at LSU at night for the last 9 years. Can't think of any off the top of my head.
Do you remember that injury took Marcus out several games last year, and we did very well with Alston and Connor as the playmakers
Our defense looked like it was coached by brad Scott last night
Good pass protection partly attributed to the LSU DL not rushing up the field to contain Shaw's scrambling ability. More often than not they were engaging the OL to get a push while at the same time keeping containment. Very good game plan.
