Has there ever been an upcoming basketball season with as little set in stone and as wild a range of possibilities as next year for us? I can't even begin the imagine what the starting lineup will be. I would have to guess that by the time SEC games start, Johnson will be the starter at PG, I can't imagine Ellington not being in there, although he's going to have to improve his outside shooting if he's not handling the ball as much, Thornwell should be in there at the wing, Carrera would probably be in there at 4, still undersized though, and then a big guy, maybe Henry or Ringer at 5.
I haven't spent any time really pondering this since there's a long time until the season starts, but it seems weird to go into a year having so little idea what to expect.
Sorry, but Ellington just isn't a starting pg for a good SEC team, so lets hope he's a backup only. Good 6-7th man. What about Thornwell at the two, MC at 3, and then Henry at four with big L at the five. I think you may be right on Thornwell, and that would make MC the sixth man, just not big enough to be a starting four if this team is going to be any good, IMO. Love his hustle and heart, just needs a couple more inches.
Starting the season
PF: Henry or Minda
8-11 Theus Notice Mckie
After football/ Midseason
PG : Johnson
Backup Guards Shaw and Ellington
Backup Forwards Minda and Theus
Backup Center Ringer
I think this team is a bubble NIT team and should win at least one or two games in the SEC tourney.
8-11 Notice, Theus, Mckie
After first semester/football
Backup Guards Shaw and Williams
Backup Forwards Minda and Theus
Backup Center Ringer
I could see Ringer starting over Chat. Just depends on how much he's improved this offseason. I also think Carrera could be a terror at the 3, both rebounding and his post offense.
Fomerly known as Garnet&BlackAttack.
I'm with you on this lineup and think Carrera will be a beast at the 3. I do think Ellington still has a place on this Team especially when you have others that can score. Also don't be surprised to see Thornwell run some point. This Team imo will have underachieved if we are not at least a NIT Team.
I agree. I think if Carrera can hit the midrange jumper then he'll be a very good 3. Only thing I could see as a problem is he'll probably be matched up with a lot of guards at that position in college, which could be a problem with his perimeter defense. We know he won't be outworked though. Bruce will be a perfect energy 6th man. Thornwell at the point forward position could be our answer until Ty is eligible.
I agree with this. Martin really likes Ellington, so I could see him using him at the 1, and the 2 all year. Thorny will play the 2 and the 3, and Carrera will move to the 3. Carrera is the perfect 6th man, to me. He can go in there for 5 min stretches and play as hard as he possibly can until he's tired.
We will definitely put more size in the game next year. I think we will have 2 of Ringer, Chatke, and Henry on the floor most of the games. They say Thornwell is an absolutely relentless rebounder, and I can't wait to get him on campus.
You are exactly right about the unknowns, MCR. I can't think of anything close, other than maybe Spurrier's first year. It's exciting to get a new start. I think we all would agree it was for the best.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
SEC play :
Ellington 1or 2
Johnson 1 or 2
If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that....
I think Carrera plays better as a starter than coming off the bench. I see him starting at the small forward spot.
The fact that you have carerra as the 6th man on both options gives you zero credibility from the start. Carerra is by far the best player on the team
What position does he fit best?
"Those who live in the past are cowards and losers" -- Mike Ditka
What makes anyone think Ellington shoots it well enough to at 2? I can see it in that he can create his own shot, but his % in doing so leave a good bit for improvement. Ellington needs to be a spark plug coming off the bench, IMO.

just based on what I believe from a talent basis.
pg - Shaw then Johnson / Ellington
2g - Thornwell & Notice
SF - Carrera & Thornwell & a little Theus
PF - Henry & Kacinas & some Carrera
C - Chat & Ringer
I do not know where you'd play Williams unless we go with 3 G's and play him really at the SF slot.
If he were 6'5'' he'd be All-SEC caliber. Being 5'11'' to 6' and being a below avg passer and ball handler tells me you have to play him against taller guys. Having said that you have to have some height around him to keep him from getting abused on the defensive end.
From my original post:
"I can't imagine Ellington not being in there, although he's going to have to improve his outside shooting if he's not handling the ball as much."
I only know one thing about Bruce, and that is the fact that he always gives 100%. He's not a great point guard, and I doubt he'll ever be a great 2 guard. However, he's a good player, a great teammate, and he'll do the little things necessary to help his team win, whatever they might be on that day.
he could play the 3, 4, or if need be 5.
The 3 or the 4 best fits his game. His shot is improving and is by far the most physical player we have
Personally I think Thornwell fits best at 3 and Henry at 6'9 and Chat fit at 4 and 5. I think MC could bring a high energy level off the bench and be valuable. IMO
Dont give up on Chat just yet.....I think he could be a very solid player once he gets his conditioning up!!
