Our team is light years ahead of the Horn era after 3 games even with a less talented ball club. We have a winner in Martin and you can tell that our players are actually being taught a true offensive system instead of the Darrin Horn classic (4 man weave around the 3 point line and when the shot clock hits 10 let our PG go one on one and jack up a contested three).
Our team is very small and that is going to cost us some games, but these kids are playing hard and within a clear framework.
Correct about that.
On an amusing note, have you all taken a close look at Martin and his Staff? if I were in a dark alley i would want those guys on my side, certainly not against me.
Seriously I love their passion and refusal to accept anything but the Player's best.
Agree completely. Gotta think he's disappointed in the defense tonight letting guys get to the basket but our lack of a big shot blocker inside is killing us there.

This is from deadspin.com and is telling of where we were and where we are:
85. South Carolina
Predicted Pythagorean winning percentage: .712
South Carolina allowed opponents to make more shots than almost any other SEC team in recent memory, and when they did force a missed shot, they were unable to gather in the rebound. Even with a bare cupboard, the defense under new coach Frank Martin can only improve from last year's debacle.
Yes I do. He's a great coach and will turn our program around sooner than later, but we will take some whoopings this year simply because we don't have a lot of talent guys. The future could not be brighter though. We will get some kids from the northeast too because of Martin, and they play a more physical brand of basketball. Teams will hate playing us in the years ahead.

I'll be yo huckleberry...
I feel the same way. We'll lose a few this year and may not even make the tourney but in a year or two I wouldn't be surprised to see us competing for the SEC.
Loved this quote.
“I am happy that we are 3-0 but we are playing with fool’s gold right now,” he said. “The game has a lot of things you control and one thing you don’t control and that is the ball going in the basket and right now we are depending on the ball going in the basket to win. I told the players when it catches you, don’t be surprised and don’t cry when you don’t like what it smells like.”
The rug really tied the room together, did it not?
