Funny, the only people projecting barker to uk is Kentucky writers...
Follow me on Twitter, @chrisinstpete
Think he would be an amazing get for us.
When you say fit, you mean a place he won't get killed behind a porous offensive line for the next three years
Well the same applies for us so...
Three of those guys are national
Fear the Fish
My gut says UK too. They dont have anybody on the roster that this kid couldnt beat out during his true freshman or sophomore year. Thats not a knock on him by any means...he could possibly do the same thing at USC. But I think its reasonable to say that there is a much better chance for early playing time at UK. Also, you can never discount the fact that its his state school and he has football and non-football friends that will be going there or are already on campus. I hope he picks USC but I feel like it might be too much to overcome.
With his comments about wanting to hear from others, my confidence goes down. Personally if we don't land Barker, just shut it down at QB, unless one jumps out during camps and sign another big nasty on the DL.
Quite honestly, its going to take Stoops a min of 5 years to turn that ship, and the difference is SOS has don it at three schools, MS has never done it so, good luck to those buying the hype.

I think USC leads and will land him. He would be a good addition to our group of QBs. Our coaches obviously have made him a priority and he is well thought of.
On the flip side, I would say that I actually might like Harris a bit better and would be perfectly fine with not taking a QB in this class as it would give us a scholarship to apply to a position of need.
He's ours, too.
If we dont take a QB this class could that affect some of the WR's on our board?
He's been spending a lot of time at UK, with only one visit here. Every time that happens and things seem to still look good for us, it usually doesn't end very good.
If he wants to compete for a National Title, he won't have a chance at Ky IMO. It will take too long to turn that program around. On the other hand, we're real close and a few key players such as BAW (who is now a Gamecock) could make a real difference.
In the end, it is going to be real hard for him to say no to his home school. I hope I am so wrong.
Patrick Towles was a very highly ranked 2012 recruit and Jalen Whitlow was also touted and forced into action LY. Max Smith is also pretty good. KY has some QB talent and is recruiting some other 2014 QBs.
Didn't Stoops get fired from Arizona.
That was the other Stoops kid. He's now DC at OU.
To respond to your post, I would guess that with highly regarded Connor Mitch being a likely redshirt freshman when they would arrive...doubtful.
I assume sarcasm.
Im not saying kentucky has complete trash at the QB position. Im just saying that Barker is the most talented QB on their roster day one. With Thompson and Mitch im not so sure thats the case here. Obviously I could be wrong. He could go to Kentucky and never play or he could come here and unseat some of our guys as a true freshman. I'm just saying that as a kid from a Kentucky it is probably a pretty tempting situation.
Sounds like UK is playing good cop bad cop with Barker. They send him over 100 letters in one day to him then they tell him on this visit that they aren't going to pressure him and let him see the campus for himself.
My thoughts too, but sometimes having a committed QB in your ear saying "lets go to school together, and be the next big thing" can go a long way. It also helps build chemistry from the beginning before these guys ever step foot on campus.
Recruits recruiting recruits is highly overrated IMO.
I'm waffling on my barker prediction. Now thinking we get him.
That's something he brought up in another i'view I read y'day..... he voiced concerns about the O-Line @ UK citing DE J Clowney & others as the kind of guys that have to be blocked.
He also said he wondered if that UK staff would be around for the long haul especially were they to be successful early.
He did however mention SOS & how long he'll be here as a ? He has about SCar but that's 1 I feel we can pacify a lot easier than UK can about its O-Line.
