I have read a lot of posts on stopping the ECU offense and what we should do. I remember last year after our game everyone was saying how good ECU's offense was and the next week Virginia Tech shut them down. So I would have to believe that Whammy and Crew are watching everything about that game last year because ECU did nothing against VT last year. That is how we stop them. GO COCKS!!!
From my understanding, ECU lost most, if not all, of the big-time players they had on offense last year. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't expect this year's game to be as tough as last year's.
Amazing how VT could stop them and fail against the Kow Kollege twice.
They are getting their top receivers back this week. They didn't play the first game because of suspensions. Our secondary will be tested. hopefully we will play better than last season.

ECU lost their quarterback but Rio Johnson, the new QB, has been in the system and their coordinator likes him a lot. Most of their receivers from last year return.

I hate this game. While I don't think it will happen, ECU is good enough to beat us. Probably not if Shaw is healthy but if Thompson has a repeat of last week we could lose. They were up 17-0 on us last year, if they do that again this year with a back-up QB we will have a difficult time matching it.
What I really hate is that we should be playing Southwest Polytechnic Community College this week. We seem intent on playing mid majors that have an outside chance to beat us. If we were playing a nobody it wouldn't matter that Shaw was banged up this week, we could play the starters for a half and then let everybody rest while we rolled up 50 with the backups. I know it's not the most exciting thing for the fans but I'd rather have a couple of boring wins a year than the off chance that ECU gets lucky and ruins our season. Same thing with Navy last year, a game we should never have even scheduled. We keep giving these teams a shot at the brass ring, eventually someone is going to grab it.
Agree, why can't we schedule Savanah State as a non-conference game?
As good as last year's quarterback, Dominique Davis, was at times, he also led college football in interceptions and pick-6's. Many were excited to move on to a different era. ECU gave up 10 non-defensive touchdowns last year due to pick-6's, fumble returns and special teams miscues, which really skewed its defensive scoring stats. The receivers are pretty stacked across the board. The team lost one good receiver (Lance Lewis), but everyone else of note returns from last season.
Still not sure if Rio is the answer based on what I saw last week though. He started off really slow against App in his first career start before finding his rhythm late. It'll be interesting to see how he responds to being in Williams-Brice this weekend.

Were yall at App last week?
Also, how is yall's defense against mobile QB's?
ECU hosted App last week, and Hoist The Colours was there covering the game.
The front seven is supposed to be the strength of the team this year, especially the linebackers. Last week's App QB was a veteran that is very mobile that ECU did a decent job against. They didn't sack him, but pressured him pretty well as the game wore on and forced some ill-advised throws in the second half. Nonetheless, mobile QBs always seem to give ECU fits, but I think that may go for pretty much every team. They're a pain to deal with.
Gotcha. preciate the answer.
Lookin forward to a good game tomorrow.
The #1 guy they return is a 6'8" reciever, Justin Jones, I think...he is very athletic and tough in the red zone...a high round draft guy, I think he is a So or Jr...
Pretty sure their 2 starting DTs are out one with injury sustained in the last game and another for suspension.
