Florida-Alabama

Florida looked ok against one serious opponent so far, not sure I'd say they've turned the corner. This weekend will tell that. That OL is about to get shredded, and those are the same running backs that have all the hype, but not the production when it counts.

By the way, wasn't a dig at you personally, just sayin folks see the stars and think they mean the guys will be great, heck see uga for an example of where that doesn't seem to happen.

I'd say they've turned the corner compared to last year. The first four games last year you could tell that team was a trainwreck. I don't think Florida is going to win the SEC or anything but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see them win against Bama, LSU, or Florida State. I had them losing 4-5 games at the beginning of the season and I could see 2-3 now. As far as RB's not producing when it counts, Demps has been pretty solid. I don't think they win the national title without him his freshman year. The problem is they don't have an every down back, and they don't have stud WR's. I think if they get 100 yards rushing against Bama, that's an accomplishment. With the OL coaching that was going on last year, Barry Sanders would've been lucky to get 1,000 yards.

I'm not a big star guy, once you get on campus those stars don't mean a thing. If I was all about stars I would've said Andre DeBose, and Deonte Thompson are the best two WR's in the SEC :)

Bottom line, I'm saying Florida's OL is better than Arkansas and I'm willing to bet that they get more than 17 rushing yards and 219 yards of total offense

HS evals? What the heck are you talking about? Based on what I've seen from this season from watching both teams play this season. As far as evals go I fail to see the relevance to my original post but evaluating talent is evaluating talent. I get paid by a large number of BCS schools to provide them film and evaluate talent, so nice dig that you tried there.

Florida's OL is a lot better than last year and coaching is a big reason why. They are averaging 250 rushing yards a game and all three of their backs have over 6.5 ypc. They also have allowed 2 sacks...compare that to last year at this time. They are one dimensional and everyone knows it yet they still are protecting Brantley and running the ball effectively.

Last season means nothing, I don't care about last season or about Preseason All-SEC lists.

Was Cam Newton Preseason SEC 1st team before last season, was Lattimore 1st team at RB before last season? Alshon, Fairley, McPhee, Ridley? Florida's scheme on offense and defense is totally different than last year. I don't think they will beat Bama but I think Florida has better RB's and OL than Arkansas...I'd say they have better LB's too and by the end of the season I might take their DL too.

    Regarding UF's rushing average....

I have to disagree that their OL is the reason why they are averaging 250 ypg.

Two of their four opponents were UAB and FAU.

    Need I say more?

Oh yeah, their other two were UT and UK.

    Point and Case.

Edit: I do agree with you that UF will have more than 17 yards rushing this week.

I think you guys see the word Florida and then there's something positive in the post that you immediately put your goggles on and interpret what you want.

You guys make it out to be that I'm saying Florida has the best OL in the SEC or the nation. I'm saying they have a better OL than Arkansas and they are better than last year...way better. I'm not saying their OL is the reason for all of their success, just that I'd take their OL over Arkansas. In fact in the post that you responded to I said "Florida's OL is a lot better than last year and coaching is a big reason why". That's all I am saying

  • Small fast guys and no passing is not going to cut it against the tide. It probably will not be close. Bama rolls big. Not sure why whipping Tennessee is supposed to be a big deal.

Not true. Florida is limited. No feature back, no qb, no great wrs. Speed, sure, but sound teams ate not blown away by speed and nothing else.

I do think they are better than uga, but no match for bama.

Then why are almost all of the posts that quote mine debating about totally different things?

I too said in this very thread that Florida is one dimensional and they are missing an every down back and stud WR's...and that Brantley isn't a great QB.

I really don't know what else to write to paint a clearer picture

    1) I don't think Florida will win the SEC

    2) I don't think Florida beats Bama

    3) Florida has a better OL than Arkansas

    4) Florida is better than they were last year

    5) Florida's OL and running game is better this year because the coaching is better.

    6) I wouldn't be surprised with the coaching that they have that they can sneak a win against one of Bama, LSU, or Florida State

    7) Florida will have more than 17 rushing yards against Bama

    Crazy Pills

I have to abstain on whether Arkansas or Florida has the better OL. i just don't know the answer to that one.

I do not think that florida beats LSU or Alabama, or comes particularly close, but it is possible obviously.

I think they have a very good chance of beating FSU, who I think is still is just above average as a team and program.

I would not be surprised if UF's rushing total looked something like 17 yards, but I would guess they will have a better day than that.

the rest I agree with. Especially the part about better coaching, because there is no question in my mind that Florida was the worst coached team in the country last year.
