Ok so conflicting stories now....
1. Teo made it all up to get publicity for his Heisman campaign
2. Teo was duped and he is the victim (find me a college girl who is willing to talk on the phone every night and even keep cell phone on all night just to play a hoax).
something to stir the pot for you bloggers and message board junkies out there..
.Notre Dame was very quick to throw support behind Teo, having a statement not long after the story broke. My question here....was Notre Dame in on the hoax? It is no secret that ND has been dying to get back to national prominence. They have been ripped year after year for being one of the most traditional football programs in history but they have been irrelevant....Notre dame doesn't play in a conference and goes undefeated and makes the BCS national championship. They needed a big time player, they needed a big time story. A kid the spurned so cal bc he prayed on it and God told him to go to ND....
Like I said, just a conspiracy theory. Thoughts?
I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I saw Dabo in the grassy knoll.
Not the first time the Catholics tried to cover something up.

Another player says she was real and they also met. This story is just bizarre.
Just when it seems like the Manti Teo is real. Specifically, Mauia says he met Kekua in 2011.

Notre Dame has known about this situation since December 26. You're saying because they had a statement ready after the story broke they must have been in on it? LOL talk about jumping to conclusions.
Ok real talk.
1 of 3 things
Teo was part of this hoax and did it for publicity, he's gay and was/is using this fake girlfriend as a cover up, or at the very least he is one of the most gulible people alive who is at least guilty of embellishing this relationship for media attention.
I vote for your second item - I think he is gay, trumped up a fake girlfriend to hide his sexuality, and then killed her off
because at some point he might have to produce her. Knew that being gay would hurt both his Heisman and draft status.
Used her pseudo death to enhance public sentiment for himself and the Heisman - as if his grandmopther was not enough.
I could care less about him being gay - but the NFL locker room is another world.
This is what I think it will be once it's all said and done
Teo met her three years ago online.
She got in a horrific accident. He didn't go to see her.
She got cancer. He didn't go to see her.
She was on her death bed. He didn't go to see her.
She was the love of his life and she died. He didn't go to her funeral. He didn't send flowers to her family. He wouldn't let reporters near her family. "respect the family's privacy."
Jump to your own conclusions. I've got my opinion on the subject.
My opinion is that for whatever reason ND feels compelled to defend their own and their AD is:
A. Really dumb
B. A really good actor
Regardless, I think they'll end up with the pie in the face. There is too much damning evidence available, IMO, to prevent proof that this kid knew exactly what was going on.

This: Lennay Kekua was a Stanford student and Cardinal football fan when the two exchanged glances, handshakes and phone numbers that fateful weekend three seasons ago.
She was gifted in music, multi-lingual, had dreams grounded in reality and the talent to catch up to them.
The plan was for Kekua to spend extensive time with the whole Te’o family when upwards of 40 of them came to South Bend in mid-November for ND’s Senior Day date with Wake Forest.
“They started out as just friends,” Brian Te’o said. “Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple.
“And we came to the realization that she could be our daughter-in-law. Sadly, it won’t happen now.”
Editors note: This piece from the South Bend Tribune takes an in-depth look at the collegiate football career and personal life of Notre Dame star
Teo's gay. I fake internet GF is easier than coming out the closet for a young football star. When his grandma died he chose to end this fake relationship and get more sympathy. Then he tells friends and teammates he doesn't date or bang all the girls that throw themselves at one of the faces of college football bc hes been hurt and can't love again.
"People always ask me if I wish I were bigger. I tell them no. I always wanted to be a miniature badass." Dustin Pedroia
I agree. All the above facts, and the quotes from his Dad about her visiting in Hawaii. Also, just pull cell phone records, bet he wasn't on the phone with anyone every night...
I can't come to any conclusion other than Te'o knew about it.
Teo really put ND between a rock and a hard place I believe. I think he confessed to the AD and coaches that he made all that stuff up because he was gay and now they can either try and cover it up or throw the symbol of their team under the bus and possibly ruin his career and tarnish their name. According to them they've known for 3 weeks about the "hoax". In that time the AD says they've launched investigative efforts into finding out the truth. This would be a good excuse for not coming out right away about it because they were "busy" investigating and wouldn't have complete answers. But I don't see ND doing any such investigating into something like this.
"You’re either a block-gobbler, a farmer, or you’re a damn hunter and playmaker."
Manti Teo knew about the hoax and so did his family. They may not have started it, but they certainly kept it going for the publicity and potential monetary gain. Maybe there will be a movie about this.
Is was reported that he got a phone call on Dec 6 from the same number and same voice he knew as his dead GF. Per Notre Dame AD. Then called and told Notre Dame on Dec 26. From Dec 6 through today T'eo had a number of chances to stop the rumors about his dead girlfriend and chose not to. He was interviewed in Miami and merely said, "We all know what has been reported (my Gf and Grandmother died on the same day) and I have nothing to say about that." He hid the truth and is still hiding the truth because he has yet to talk about it.
From Dec 26 until now, ND had every chance to correct the lies about a dead girlfriend when they were brought up at press conferences and other interview opportunities with ND players and coach and all of them chose to continue the cover up. T'eo covered it up for over a month and ND for a couple weeks.
Side note--- for someone who is good with YouTube editing-- combine the leprechaun video from Alabama and Teo= YouTube gold IMO
"Tigers love pepper......they hate GAMECOCKS"
We know that:
1) Teo lied several times and went so far as to pose those lies in a way to maximize the emotional effect.
2.) He did carry on a long distance relationship with someone. The reports are that it was that Cali kid. There are witnesses to Teo talking often to someone in a personal manner...who Teo claimed was his girlfriend. IMO it was that Talipousa kid.
3.) Notre Dame is invested in this kid...this myth of the golden boy and they are desperate not to build on the momentum this season promised. Are they desperate enough to help try to salvage the reputation of Teo? IMO they are...in my life I have seen alot of people do alot more for alot less.
Not sure why he did it, but I believe he knew about the hoax and helped perpetuate it.
One very strange aspect of this is that ND made a statement about this and Manti still has not spoken. Why did ND feel that a personal matter was something for them to speak about? Makes no sense to me and IMHO, what they said made them look very naive.
Teo's silence just makes him look that much worse.
Looks suspiciously like Tuiasosopo = Lennay Kekua. That being said, read the Michael Roth article about how he, and a number of others, was catfished by the same girl over a period of a couple of years. Possibly Tuiasosopo and Te'o were covering up a gay romance by acting like it was a GF or maybe Tuiasosopo was catfishing Te'o, who was dumb enough to believe it and when the wheels came off was too embarrassed to admit it.
