by our division rivals will prove very costly. Florida knows if they can beat us on the best players, as well as UGA, then they will be kings of the east. Recruiting is half the battle. I have faith in Spurrier and Ward to outcoach most of these guys, but if we can't field equal talent then that may not be enough. Very disappointing to lose Rolin and Langley, 2 of our best recruits that we should have been able to hold on to. Also very disappointed in the lack of discernment that both of these prospects were fading. Obviously from the inside info we were getting, the staff felt good about both when none of us did. They should have seen a little writing on the wall and been all over these guys like white on rice. This has absolutely got to be fixed if we expect to be SEC champions anytime soon.

Dude, we get beat by our recruiting rivals every year according to the star system. However our coaches seem to like the kids we get and then beat the kids you think are so great.
I had a post like this saying UF has passed us but got deleted...
you just dont get it. Just think if we added just a few more of those guys. We could be playing for a National Championship but you are intent where we are.
Well, they wanted Rolin and Langley, LowCountry. Maybe wqe win without them, maybe Florida & Georgia will beat us. Who knows, but I can definitely assure you that we would be better with Langley and Rolin than without them. If you don't agree with that then you're kidding yourself. Assuming we do beat them the next 3 or four years straight and win the east, or even the SEC, I still can imagine we'd only be better still with these guys, maybe BCS championship better. Water under the bridge now. Just sayin'.
You and many others felt bad about them because you are always waiting for the sky to fall. If our coaches felt good about them it's because the kids were either lying or confused. Why point fingers when you have no idea what happened?
Agree BUT we lost 2 kids this year that we had commited. Langley ok I get (I guess), but when you loose a kid who grew up wanting to play for us is unacceptable. You said it best we lose to the uga and fl all the time in recruiting and if I remember correctly we also lose the east to them as well (except 1 year) what everyone is trying to say if we want to be in ATL at the end we have to beat these schools in recruiting or we will always be 2nd or 3rd. We are better in every aspect of uga and fl right now with the exception of winning the big time game changers. Just think if we could land a top 5 recruiting class like they do what we could acomplish. Just look at what we are doing with top 20 classes now!
If you don't think that UGA and UF have not had better recruiting classes than us for the last 10 years you are crazy. They get the best of the best every year. You have to have other factors as well such as player development, good coaching, lack of injuries, etc.
No you don't get it. We are where we want to be. It just takes a little luck or maybe a good schedule to get us there. We are bringing in the kids we want. We are a top 10 program the last 2 years. With UGA's schedule we very well might be playing for the NC.
Ray Tanner had several teams good enough to win it all before he actually won it all. Things just went right in 2010 and 2011. The Bouknight team was a more talented team.
Rolin is not a program changer.
Won eleven last year and Prolly eleven this year, best its ever been, will take time to do what you expect.
Two grand boys, Two state championships. 5-peat USC
We have always been behind these schools. Just recentley have we even been remotely close. We will be fine, the bottom line is once you get past the five stars its all about evaluating talent and developing it. Check out Ga.'s past recruiting classes compared to ours and explain to me how we have been beating them?
You win some and you lose some. It is the nature of the business. We will get ours.

I agree on losing Rolin, but not Langley, and this is why.
Langley was a kid that had little interest in us, but committed anyways, maybe he got the attention he needed but in the end his Home State wanted him, and when they want their own kids bad enough they usual get them!
Rolin was a kid that committed early. His Family went to Carolina, and he was very excited about doing the same. He was a Recruiter for us, and I feel we really never worried about him wavering, but in the end it seems we slacked off a bit from what i'm reading, but i'm sure after all is said and done, we will here more reasons. Should we have lost this kid no way but we did, it is recruiting, and Florida hit him at a vulnerable time and told him what he wanted to here.
This is how I see this FWIW.
Don't forget the importance of scheduling. The ONLY reason UGA has its last two eastern division titles is a soft schedule.
We've moved from the bottom tier in the SEC to the middle tier, so we're making progress. His point is, to take the next step we have to start closing the deal on the Langley's and Rolin's of the world. And I would agree with that.
I'm 'always waiting for the sky to fall', MCR? You don't know me or haven't followed my few posts so while you're accusing me of pointing the finger, look in the mirror. I, and most on this board, have enough life experience to know that actions speak louder than words and these kids (Langley, Rolin) actions certainly didn't match their 'in the fold' words they were feeding the coaches. And while I may not 'have any idea what happened' I can understand 'he felt slighted' and 'got the attention he needed from the Florida coaches' as well as that there 'is more to it without throwing someone under the bus'. Whether there was a lack of proactiveness, laziness, or just a logical feeling by whoever wasn't on top of things well enough that he was doing all he needed to, well apparently it wasn't enough. Hindsight is 20-20, I know, and I'm usually the last to critique someone else's efforts, but I can't help but think with our loss and need at LB that it wouldn't have taken a masterful job to hang on to a 3rd generation Gamecock. Anyway, for all the sunshine pumpers that still want to blame it all on the kid and his family, fine. We're all entitled to our opinion and who knows who is right. We're all disappointed for now, but let's unite our prayers to pull in a great one like Foster or Nagakou so we can forget about Rolin for good.
This is so true. Fl and UGA have LSU, A&M and LSU, next year and we have Miss St and Arky. Should be our year, but it is LB depth that worries the most about next years team.
I can tell you that it is going to be very hard to land another recruit now. They are following how Rolin is being treated, and it is going to take a while for this to die down before anybody considers coming to this insane asylum.
Rolin is getting ripped to shreds on twitter by some of our 'fans'. Our recruits read that, and this board, and are probably questioning how it is going to be if they don't go undefeated. Other players see how Rolin is getting treated, and aren't impressed. Our current players are trying to calm everyone down, but it ain't working. CFB fans are a bunch of nuts. People who follow it the closest are the least able to emotionally handle it.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
This cracks me up. I love how you have the inside scoop on recruits. Who are your sources? I also love how you seem to think this doesn't happen at every school. I like you man, but you need to get some perspective. I'm sure my comments have made you be embarrassed to be associated with USC, rofl.
Blame the fans. Classic SM.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
These Teams have ALWAYS out recruited us. Where have you been??
How do you know he felt slighted? Did one of the insiders here say that Rolin said he felt slighted, or is that just an assumption made by someone? This is my point. Maybe the writing was on the wall and our coaches didn't see it or maybe the kid just had them snowed or maybe he just changed his mind. Whatever the answer is, the kid didn't handle it well apparently, if what has been said here is true and he announced it on Twitter rather than communicating it to our coaches. But even that I don't know, which is my main point. There's no reason to attack coaches when there may have been nothing they could've done to stop it. Clearly there is a skill involved to know what different teenagers need or want to feel wanted, loved, needed, etc. Every kid is different - some need stroking all the time and others don't want it at all. Some are being led by parents, relatives, handlers and others are doing their own thing. How do we, as fans, have any idea?
to pass us, don't they have to be behind us? We won two in a row vs them. Not exactly what I'd say equals surpassing them. Vandy beat us in back to back years just a few years ago. Did that mean they passed us?
