Another close loss ... We were down by one w 15 seconds and gave up a 3. This is a bigger rebuild than when Lou fixed Brads mess.

Not sure bigger than 0-21 in SEC football, but a huge challenge non the less. Good thing though is it doesn't take as long to fix it in basketball as it does in football. 3 or 4 years and Frank will have us in the NCAA's on a regular basis.
This is a good team. They have to learn how to win. 4 close SEC loses. They really let this one slip out of their hands with that long 2nd half drought. I think this will be a better team later in the season going into nxt yr.
I don't think it's as big a rebuild as once thought, if he can bring in some talent to help out these guys they play very hard!
Garnet I Bleed
We've lost 4 games by a combined 16 points with below average players.....only lose Jackson this year. I expect us to be good next year
If Leonard wasn't shooting cinder blocks we would have won
We're playing a hell of a lot better than I expected. Martin is going to start winning a lot quicker than most thought.
In all honesty we have no business even being in these games based on our roster. But I'm proud that they are playing their butts off. I also think the staff is doing a great job and I'm pretty excited about the future.
Fomerly known as Garnet&BlackAttack.
You can't be serious, this is a tough team, this is an effort team, this is a hard nosed team. It is not a good team. We are at least 2 years out from being an NCAA bubble type team and 3 from being a team to watch. The good news is they are being coached hard and effectively, they are just not good enough players to be able to consistently hit the big shot or make the big stop to eek out wins.
Also, Mizzou would have lost by 15+ to any decent team tonight, they were awful for all but 10 minutes of that game and didn't even show in the first half. Once again great effort tonight by the boys but talent still wins most games and we got very little in that department.
i agree. johnson and thornwell coming next year. i think we will be good next year. i dont think its going to take as long as we thought
It may take us 2-3 years to compete with the top if the league, but in basketball you only need 1 elite player every couple years with 2-3 good ones a class. Doesn't take nearly as long as football. Thornwell and a guy like Dozier could be program changes in a hurry. It didn't take but a BJ McKie to get us to where we were in 96. He had a very solid cast, but he was the stud. We will be a bubble team next year with a solid seed the year after. This guy can coach fellas.
We'll be in the tournament next year.
It wasn't the reason we lost, but my god the officiating. Dude lays on top of Slawson ... jump ball. Slawson gets elbow-hooked to the floor by a guy who was killing us all night and had 4 fouls .... foul on Slawson.
It is a 3 year plan and a 3 player plan. Thornwell, Dozier, and Woods will turn us into contenders in a hurry.
This team has exceeded my expectations considering we lost 2 of the better returning players and had to install a completely new system. Martin is the real deal and will build a winner sooner rather than later.
Not to mention when the MO guard was bringing the ball up the court with less than 30 seconds to play, he tripped and slid almost 10 feet without being called for traveling. Should have been our ball down by one.
I am serious. When I say team, I mean it by definition; a collective group working towards a similar goal. These kids bust their ass every game, get 50-50 balls, and play good team D most of the time. They loss 4 close games. They just can't close. When Coach Martin gets the talent he's capable of getting, this team will be hell to deal with. The culture is already changing and I can't wait to see the final product.
Had one of the best point guards to ever play here in Melvin Watson and one of the top 3 shooters in our history in Larry Davis. BJ was great, but those 3 together were unbelievable.
There's a big difference in hard working and talented. This team works extremely hard and is very gutty, but not overly talented. I give Coach Martin and his staff a TON of credit that they have them playing at this level. When he gets some of his guys in here then watch out.
To clarify my OP...I couldn't be more excited about Frank Martin and this team does play very hard. We're in good hands and they've been oh so close all season...good things are ahead.
Basically next year we lose Lakeem and add RInger, Thornwell, McKie, the Villanova guard whose name escapes me, and a healthy Geathers. Massice upgrade in depth and talent IMO

This. Leonard had several wide open looks. Mizzou had to give the rim a new paint job after that display.
Yep. All we need is a shot blocker. Honestly, I think Geathers can be the guy that makes guys just hesitant enough to drive it every time, which will help our guards on defense infinitely. I cannot stress how much a guy like Harris helps. It could be Geathers, or somebody they are recruiting. They will find that one missing piece, though.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
We absolutely must have 2 fairly consistent outside shooters....it' easy to defend one, but almost impossible to defend 2. It was painful to watch Leonard and Smith shoot last night.
The CBI or NIT?
It seems ridiculous but we are literally one decent scorer away from being 4-1 or 5-0in conference.
