First off I wanna start off by asking the question, "Does Boyd's return even matter?" Nope, probably not. Why? The man was 32/71 for 339 yards and -15 rush yards against us, and no doubt that Willy B will keep Clemtech's QB in check. So why should Boyd return? The motto of a shot at beating Carolina? No Boyd will most likely just lose again and it's only worth the opportunity of winning or losing which statistically is 0. So should Tajh get his degree? Sports Management doesn't seem to have very much of a demand without a law degree behind it, or a coaching position. So why is Boyd returning to Clemson? This is absurd, that this does not put up a red flag to answer the question "What is motivating the Clemson players to stay in Clemson for the purpose of their fourth year?." There are millions on the table as a signing bonus of Boyd's career that could be placed into his bank account, and nothing besides the equivalence should get Boyd to stay, right? Plus Boyd's statistics are against ACC teams and not even on the same scale it seems with Quarterbacks such as Johnny Football, or McCaron. This is also a high demand year for Quarterbacks in the draft with limited supply due to the withdrawals of so many Juniors. Nothing logistically seems to keep Tajh in the Clemtech system.
So what is the answer? Well duhhhhh, benifits. As Dwayne Allen once said, "Being at Clemson, I have more money and more resources than I have ever had in my life." How could such a quote get such little attention from the NCAA. There is not other explanation in the situation of Tajh Boyd and Clemson producing so much talent to the fourth year. Just look at the difference in Clemson's "success" in getting people to stay four years. I guarantee there would be a mathematical significant differences in the mean values. It is almost incredible that the NCAA should not look into this. I simply don't care about Tajh, yet Clemson should not be able to keep professional "caliber" players for four years. No other person could see this decision other than being baffling to any human being.
I don't wanna seem as if I am being in shock because, I promise you, I am not. I don't expect Tajh to come close to any other goal or aspiration out of staying for his fourth year. I don't see him beating any top tier SEC team in the regular season. Yet, it is an abomination and a crudely obvious fallacy to see such instability in a recruiting class, along with definite professional athletes competing for a fourth year and risking their well-being. Its time for an NCAA investigation in Tiger town. . . I have seen enough.
Evidently he received a 4th round grade which he thought did not warrant forgoing his forth year. Your rant would make more sense if Hopkins decides to return.
I don't buy the $$ talk...I just think Dabo is that good at selling his reality to his players.
The rug really tied the room together, did it not?
Aye don't dog Sport Management majors. USC has a great program and a lot of us SPTE alumni do pretty well...can't speak for Clemson's program.
You don't have to buy it. It's already been bought and paid for, compliments of those at tater tech.
My thoughts exactly. Our SPTE program was ranked #1 at one point. Clemson's program is just is in their Parks and rec school. I believe they only offer sports management as a minor
Who cares what Dabo and Clemson are doing ! We have owned their butts, and I am GLAD to see Taj come back for one more butt kicking ! He would be the first Clemson QB to lose to us all 4 years.....bring it on !
My point wasn't that Sports Managent isn't lucrative my point was the fact that you have to get a law degree to be equivalent to a bench warming NFL QB
You can't be serious - you're calling for an NCAA investigation based on the fact that players are deciding to return to college to complete their eligibility?
Everyone knows to get into the bonus money you have to go your senior year. They paid after the end of the year.
Why not ? Look at their history.
I would think the pictures of recruits waving stacks of cash at the camera would have merited a sniff. If that didn't nothing much will.
Ace is coming back after receiving a 2nd round grade. I like it that tasha is coming back. He's our whipping boy.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
They really and truly believe that are gonna win a national championship next year. THEY REALLY DO.
...but they also thought that last year.
My theory is that it backfires on him and he has a Matt Barkley type year or gets injured and ultimately goes undrafted next year. If that happens, you'll see people stop buying the "you'll be a better prospect next year" speech.
That being said, I hope he doesn't have anything wrong with him when he visits the Brice. For some reason, we are in that kid's head. All those stats are garbage when he plays a motivated Carolina team. May just be a shock to his system that we actually play defense.
