I thought kickoff coverage was better....not great, but much better than in prior years. And, how huge was Ace Sanders and the job our punt return teams did this year. I used to be content just to have someone with good hands back there that could make a fair catch! Ace's returns in Ga and Michigan games were huge.
If we had this special teams unit with the likes of Ryan Succop doing the kicking, we'd be near tops in the nation.
You can't see! I can't see! All that matters is can the f*&%ing horse see! That's a raid!
Coach Joe certainly lived up to Spurrier's hype this season as an X and O guy.
One of the huge differences overlooked is penalties. We used to be the most penalized ST's group in the nation. Very few blocks in the back, facemasks, kick/catch inteference, etc.
That's coaching for sure.
I thought the kickoff coverage was great actually. We didn't give up a TD at all this year did we? Our kicking game was the real issue, FGs and punting I mean. If we had ole "Lanning Spencer", as SOS used to call him or Succop we might have had the best STs in the country.

Kickoff returns, punt returns, and kickoff coverage were all great. Punt coverage was so so. Field goals were average, at best.
PK was 11/15 prior to bowl, right? Had a 50 harder. Had roughnecks on most kickoffs. Not bad.
Punter got more consistent as year went on .few disasters. Not a talented position group especially.
Felt like the coaching showed across board.
No doubt, definitely one of SOS's better hires.
Just further supports my argument that every position has improved the past couple of years except OL. Even in our 13th game this year, they couldn't run block to save their lives and Gruden noticed it too.

ST was better this year than I can ever remember. When is the last time you looked forward to fielding a punt? KO returns were great as well. Coverage was tight. We didn't kick many field goals, but Yates had a good year kicking. The Hull turned into a good punter by the second half of the year. I think Hull is a good punter now.
JoeRob is obviously a great coach. The players have bought into his schemes, and give great effort as well. The HBC has got to be happy.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Ace was the man on special teams this year. If it wasn't for Ace I'd grade special teams a C-....It seems as if our field goal kicker is 33% kinda guy.... 33% blocked 33% missed 33%made.....Our Punter is terrible compared to most SEC schools. LSU backup punter would look like King Kong in Columbia.
Are you talking about the South Carolina Gamecocks?
Yates was like 11/17, KO coverage was solid, KR were solid. We gave up 52 yds of punt returns all year, and The Hull avg. 39.4 yds per punt.
