He was on 'Morning Joe' this morning talking about the start of the college football season. I was a little surprised at the prediction. He was over the top excited about Vandy.
Too bad Jesse will get his first prediction wrong.
Sucking up to Willie Geist.
our past few games with vandy have been pretty close. they are better, we are on their field. i expect them to play us tough. its not like we are favored by three td's or something.
but, in the end, vandy will be vandy & we will take their heart from them
Dont think we will lose to Vandy, but I do believe this will be a tougher game than some people think. This could really set the tone for our season!
At what position is vandy better than us?
Close? We won last year 21-3... AND we looked like crap doing it.
You can't see! I can't see! All that matters is can the f*&%ing horse see! That's a raid!
We beat Vandy by 18 last year and our Offense was probably one of the worst in college football "THAT" night. Do we not remember Garcia basically handing the ball back to Vandy at the 50 yard line almost every series. I think he threw 4 picks that game, don't get me wrong Vandy will be alright but we r pretty dang good too!! We return a lot from the team that basically dominated that team last year. I think it might be close 7 to 10 points at half but the second half we will pound them into the ground with our running game.
Sorry for the rant but some people need to open their eyes. We are not the old Carolina anymore, we have players that WANT to be great and have great attitudes and have been working their tail off all summer. This team leaders will not let this team over look Vandy.

The Hype position
I cannot think of one position. Some people might say WR, but that is not realistic. They would have traded all of their WR's to get Bruce, Ace, and Damiere.
Vandy's DL played pretty good last year. They are not nearly as talented as us up there, but those guys play hard. I expect it to be tough to run again.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
I was a guest at the faculty luncheon yesterday. Coach Spurrier was the speaker. He didn't say anything that we haven't heard. However, he did make a few funny comments about Vanderbilt. He said that he saw a practice report where their coach said that everything was perfect. Coach Spurrier chuckled and said that he doesn't believe he has ever said that after a practice in all his years of coaching. He looked over at Ray Tanner and he laughed too. In other words, they didn't buy it. I got the sense that Coach Spurrier wasn't worried about Vanderbilt in the least.
Last year has nothing to do with this year. Franklin appears to be a great coach and Im sure he will have them ready. As I posted earlier I think we win the game but I do believe it is going to be tougher than most people think! If im wrong I will be more than happy to eat all the crow I receive...........................
I predict Jesse Palmer comes out of the closet this year. Wearing a baby gap button up and skinny tie.
Bottom line is we are much better than them from a talent and coaching aspect. Franklin is a Dabo clone when it comes to the cheerleading and ra ra crap. He seems to be a good guy but I ain't buying Vandy is ready to contend.
If we lose, it will be 100% on us for not executing. I think we set the tone for the year with a convincing road victory.
i would totally trust a guy who uses a bucket of hair gel a day and went on the Bachelor.
Go! Fight! Win! Kick Ass!
I think Vandy will be worse this year......definitely on D..........maybe improved on Offense but Rodgers isnt all that....I just dont see how there gonna be able to block Clowney, Quarles, and DTaylor............
He does love him some smedium.
I like and respect Jesse, as he's been good to us and respects Spurrier through their Gator connection. That being said, the guy did have to resort to "The Bachelor" to try to find a girl for himself.
I also think media types feel a need to pick upsets or go against the grain on picks just to have the chance to go out on a limb and guess correctly and come out looking like they knew all along that was going to be the outcome, when privately, they know there's a slim chance the pick will be right.
Franklin is doing what one would have to do to have a chance to have a respectable team at Vandy. of course he's recruiting better, but he's also trying to build them up with all positives. Can't be negative at Vandy, or you'll have no chance. I give him credit for taking the proper approach at motivating his team. There have been times I knew we weren't the best once the opening whistle blew, but I'm never going to tell my team that.
My feeling about Vandy is that they are one of those teams you have to beat. Vandy typically doesn't beat themselves like UK or somebody like that. Like somebody said above, our game with them last year was never really in doubt despite how badly we played, but look at UGA. They screwed around and couldn't put them away, and damn near lost to them.
Despite not having the depth or high-level talent of some of the better teams in the league, Vandy's starting 22 is usually pretty solid. I feel like if the ball is on the ground, they recover it. They don't drop INTs. They don't get stupid penalties that kill their drives or give the opposing offense a new set of downs. Their coaches found schemes to legitimately confuse our OL the past few years and blitzed our face off, resulting in alot of penalties and TOs for us.
Also with Franklin, I think we can expect a good amount of gimmick plays, and who knows how our inexperienced secondary will react. I'm not predicting a loss, but I do expect Vandy to keep it close for a half if not 3 quarters and then Carolina makes one big play late to win it by 7 or 10.
Vandy's going to come out all fired up but that ain't gonna last long. We just have too much talent over them. I expect us to win bigger this year.
Jessie can suck my big, white, hard callous on my toe if he thinks he can talk to me like that. He is just trying to be relevant. Leave him alone.
we totally manhandled Vandy last year. And that was with us throwing 4 interceptions and being penalized 10 times. Thank goodness, the kid who had all those interceptions is gone. He was a good one. Heyward was all over the field.
We held Vandy to 5 first downs. Just 77 total yards of offense on just 48 plays. They rushed the ball 25 times for just 4 yards. We had 6 sacks.
Flip side, they played pretty good defense against us also. Our offense played bad that game.
+Eleventy billion, spot on with the Dabo comment. Bobby Johnson deserves as much credit for bringing Vandy back up to respectability as Franklin. Vandy wasn't a pushover late in his tenure, he just burnt out from a lot of the close losses that started piling up IMO. Johnson was a great coach in his own right.

They certainly did beat themselves vs. both Arkansas and Tennessee last year. They had multiple opportunities to win those two games, and blew them all.
