i did say the last few years, not just last year. and i dont think 21-3 is some kind of blowout. i also watched vandy beat us back to back years. i have seen vandy beat us enough times not to take them lightly
we were better than miss state last year too. on the road, that was fairly close
i hope we win by five td's but best not fool ourselves. its the sec not the acc. expect the worst & prepare that way
and, i do think we win.
I was watching that too. I never heard him say Vandy will beat Carolina. He warned it could happen, and said Vandy is going to be a tough competitor that could pull the upset. Sounded pretty non-committal playing to the crowd so to speak with Willie Geist being a Vandy alum. Of course I was half awake at the time. First day of school for my little girl, not used to these early wake-up calls yet.
OT: Does anybody else get the whole 104.9 host syndrome with Joe Scarborough and NBC? Obviously, NBC leans left and Scarborough is a republican, but sometimes I wonder why he is so overly critical of his own kind. He's been harping on the Tax Return thing with Romney like it cold ruin his candidacy, and I just don't think many people care. That's just one example, but he does it all the time.
Vandy actually play well at home. They lost to Arkansas by 3 and UGA by 5 and won the remainder of their homes games. We should win but we aren't going to go in there and blow their doors off.
So the OP overreacted. Shocker
Every coach that takes over Vandy is a great coach. According to the media.
Then a few years later they are gone. And not many of them take other jobs.
We will see. Maybe I don't give him or their team enough credit. But we will win this game by 3 touchdowns. Of course I AM A SUNSHINE PUMPER so I am not looking for any of those negatives some others look for.
I think we know a lot by looking at who started our games at the end of last year when we were playing our best all year. Our offense is proven because Wilds was running the ball at the end of the year not Lattimore and we were still piling up rushing yards. The OL was set with the people who are starting this year minus Campbell and Rok. Matulis and Gibson both started multiple games and Shell would have played last year if not for his shoulder injury. Hate me if you want but Alshon only showed up when he wanted to in 2011 as his production was way down from where it could have been. I think our WRs this year can step up and produce at AJ's 2011 levels. The defense, yeah we lost Ingram but Quarles came on strong at the end of the year and only got better over spring and fall practices. Clowney now knows what he is doing and add this with Quarles getting better, how do you choose who to block. Neither KQ, JC, or DT can be handled one on one so someone is coming free. Our LBs are seniors and looking to hit somebody. DBs could be a question mark but the reality is, the starters at the end of 2011 are in place with the exception of Gilmore. LeGree has the confidence of the coaches to play CB so I go with them. We have a chance to be better than last year and it starts in Nashville Aug 30. I say we beat Vandy by 17 plus because we reloaded just like the big boys.

Jesse is a good egg and I think he brings a lot to CFB.
Here's the thing with his prediction: It's wrong.
The game will NOT be handed to us but, in the end, we win it in the trenches and with better players at most (all) positions.
It's a different year but we left about 21 pts on the field last year. What was their total offense last year.......close to zero? Net rushing......net negative?
Franklin. Hey, I won't lie....he's a good guy and I like his enthusiasm. That alone will not take them to victory.
We win the game but we must be sucessful early to take the wind out of the home game sails. And, when we are standing on their neck with our boot.......knock them out and do not let them back into the game, ala, UK, 2010 (we blew it) and Vandy, 2005, (we nearly blew that one.)
Looking at 33-13 type scoring range...run the ball, toss when we can, run the clock and come home.
If the game goes longer than 3.5 hours, we will have our hands full, folks.
Agree; may be a fairly low score and hopefully no upset.
I think Vandy is well coached and plays their best each week, especially at home. I think they snuck up on UGA and Arky last year. Just like this isn't your grandparents' Gamecocks its not your Grandparents' Vandy either. They come to play but just do not have the talents yet to be a contender. I don;t think they surprise anyone this year.
Last year's game was 21-3 and Vandy gained a whopping 77 total yards. The score would have been more lopsided if Garcia hadn't stunk up the joint. One of his 4 interceptions was returned 23 yards to the Gamecock 22 yd line. Vandy then gained 6 yards in 3 plays and got their only points of the game on a FG.
I expect Vandy's offense to be better this year, but their defense should be worse. I think our margin of victory should be similar to last year's game - maybe something like 27-10 or 31-14.
I predict Jesse Palmer's tie will be way too short.
"People always ask me if I wish I were bigger. I tell them no. I always wanted to be a miniature badass." Dustin Pedroia
Vandy will not be better than they were last year....at least not in game 1. They lost too many players on defense. Rodgers may be better but he wasn't lighting it up last year. If we're worried about Vandy then it's going to be a long season.
I'm tired of hearing " we better be ready for Vandy" crap. Why don't y'all also include we need to score more points to win the game while your at it. Both of these points are obvious. We play in the best conference in America which means if you don't show up, you can get beat by anybody. Personally, I think we are going to lay the smack down on them. Their qb is Aaron Rodgers brother, not Aaron Rodgers,we will rush for 250+yards ,45-13. Go Cocks
