Have one purchased early last year. The battery life off the wall charger sucks the big one. The percentage drops like a countdown clock almost. How do you improve the battery, if at all? Or is this normal? Gracias.
Same with mine. Not much you can do other than dim the screen or replace the battery.
Sorry to say that I have no suggestions for you, but my Macbook Pro, purchased 2 years ago seems to have excellent battery life. About 5x longer than my windows laptop.
Dim the screen.
I got a retina MBP last summer, and I couldn't be happier with the battery life. Honestly, I get 6-7 hours so long as I'm not playing a game or using a flash website.
Do you have AppleCare? If so, call support and talk to them about it. Batteries only have a 1-year warranty, so you may be SOL. You might be better off going to an apple store and having them look at it. Sometimes they'll take pity on you and replace it. There's also a chance that the battery is part of a recall (I haven't hear of any, but there's a chance)
You should also look to see what your battery health says. Go to System Information > Hardware > Power. Look at the "Charge Information" and "Health Information" and report back what it reads.
Yeah I have a mid 2010 macbook pro and my battery is still awesome. That's one of the biggest upsides in my opinion is battery life. You can dim the screen, dim the keyboard keys, close any applications you aren't using. that's my only advice. I'd also take it to the Apple store and see what they say about the battery life, for all I know they might replace it for free.
Had one replaced last week in the apple store, 2011 computer they replaced it free.
One of the problems I had with an old laptop was I constantly had the charger plugged into it, which makes the battery life really bad when I'd unplug it.
This is actually a long standing problem and is well documented in the Mac community. There are several different well-known issues with batteries across a variety of Apple products. Don't waste your time contacting Apple, they will tell you that since they don't manufacture the battery that it isn't covered under their warranty. I'm not positive, but I don't believe Apple Care covers it either. It is obviously an issue in their supply chain, however, I believe there have been less battery issue claims over the past few years.
I have the black, plastic MacBook which I purchased brand new over 6 years ago and haven't had a single issue. After all these years my battery gives me a good 4 hour charge which is much more than any Windows based laptop I've purchased. Heck, my work laptop's battery gives me an hour of life after a full charge.
I've attached a link that you might find helpful. Sorry for you troubles.

Dont over charge your battery. It is horrible for it.
If I understand it correctly, with the new batteries there's no chance of overcharging and there's no need to unplug and fully discharge the battery to maintain health. I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.
I believe your mostly right, however many users do see improved results after "calibrating their battery." Google will tell the exact way to do that
What are you doing on the computer? Streaming NetFlix, for instance, drains the battery pretty quickly.
May be unrelated, but I think that they just released a firmware update that corrects a strange battery behavior that occurs after so many charging cycles.
The previous post about overcharging is accurate - not possible on newer MacBooks.
If the battery is that bad and the computer is fairly new, they will probably replace it for you.
