Here are my assumptions: 1. We can only have 82 on scholarship. 2. The 4 seniors do not redshirt and graduate off the roster. 3. Clowney and Hampton go pro and are off the roster. 4. All signees other than Kendall Vickers included.
Here is who will be on scholarship as well as their class as of now:
1. QB - Thompson - R-Sr, Nosovitch - R-So, Mitch - R-Fr
2. RB - Wilds - RJr, Carson - RJr, Davis - Jr, Salley - RSo, Williams - RFr, J. Smith - RFr
3. FB - Nobody on scholarship
4. TE - Anderson - Sr, Adams - Jr, Owens - RSo
5. WR- Ellington - RSr, Jones - RSr, Byrd - Sr, Brent - RJr, Jeffery - RJr, Roland - Jr, K. Smith - RSo, Fuller - RSo
6. OT - Robinson - RSr, Matulius - Sr, Gibson - RJr, Shell - RJr, Zandi - RSo, Vonashek - RFr, Rodgers - RFr
7. OG - Cann - RSr, Sport - RJr, B. Stadnik - RSo, DJ Park - RFr, Knott - RFr
8. OC - Waldrop - RSo, C. Stadnik - RSo, King - RFr
9. SDE - Dixon - RJr, Covington - RFr, Turner - RFr
10. WDE - English - RSo, Washington - RFr
11. DT - Surratt - RSr, Quarles - Sr, Dixon Jr. - RJr, Dukes - RJr, Green - RSo, Griffin - RFr

I count 71, so that would allow 11 in the next class BEFORE attrition. As Wes pointed out in another post, we lost 8-9 just before this past season. Guys, I am becoming more optimistic that we can get to 18-20 (maybe even more) in the 2014 class with 2 full Springs and Summers before the 2014 class has to take the field.
That leaves us with 73 on schollie. 82 - 73 = 9.
We have 9 schollies to give as of right now in my opinion.
How do we get more? This is my take:
1. Anderson and Quarles could easily go pro - that frees up 2 spaces.
2. Absolute no brainers to not have their scholly renewed after the upcoming season unless they become starters - Patrick Fish, Golightly, Mason Harris, and Cody Gibson.....that frees up 4 spaces.
3. Guys that have to either overcome injuries or show real improvement to justify their spot - Marcquis Roberts, Will Sport, St. Germain (especially with the 2 top walkons we just landed), and maybe guys like Dukes and Brent if they do not show a little something.....we could easily free up another 2 spaces from that group.
Bottom line is that we can easily free up a minimum of 6 spaces out of the above three columns.
9 + 6 = 15. I can live with at least 15 next year, but we will be leaving a lot of better talent on the table.

Skai Moore, Vic Hampton and Jonathan Walton aren't on your breakdown.
I'm not a big fan of threads that speculate which players will be transferring. To me that's not cool.
i agree. thats not cool
OP said Hampton would go pro, but also missing Rainey. Need to make sure you have all the players before starting to play this game.....
i wouldn't name current players... not fair, you don't know all the situation (how hard they work, etc) and players/families come on our site. recruits/families... just not a good idea in my humble opinion. the coaches and players on the bubbles know who they are and what they need to do to stay on the roster or not. no use in speculation with names.
We will have 79 players on scholarship in August if all the signees get in and we have no one currently on the roster leave.
I have a spreadsheet that I've sent to TBS...I hope some formal of a scholarship breakdown will be added to the site. Seems many are interested.
You did a very good job. There are actually 5 seniors. DeAngelo Smith, Ronald Patrick, Connor Shaw, Chaz Sutton and Jimmy Legree.
I do think one scholarship from special teams has been removed. You can figure that out.
We currently have 81 on scholarship. that off the one i mention above and the 5 seniors...That would mean 75 on scholarship before attrition.
The numbers are going to be very tight. I really need to have 15 spots available. But I just don't see how that happens?

You can probably turn your spreadsheet into a pic and post it.

I'll send it to my iPad and give that a shot.
Hanks..excellent job! You have the entire roster which is helpful. The one I keep is scholarships only.
Thanks for your help here....nice job!
Correct - missing Moore and Walton, but Rainey is listed under LBs. That leaves 73 on roster and 9 openings. Still can get to 15-20 with 2 Springs and Summer of attrition.
Let's not list names as we all know who has the potential of becoming part of the attrition. Let's show all of these current members of the Gamecock Family the respect that they deserve and have earned even if they are not seeing much PT since they have been good students and teammates.

I don't think we need to be talking about who we should yank scholarships from. It's my understanding that Spurrier ony non-renews if the effort is not there--not the production. So to say someone's scholarship should be yanked because they aren't starting is pretty asinine.
As long as these players are giving their best, they will keep their scholarships--as it should be.
I will not talk about on message boards about who I think could go away. I will say that we have very little deadwood on the current roster.
We just don't know who the dead wood is. Hopefully it will rot itself out this spring/summer/fall.
Remember, we've got 16 months for guys to fall off. There will be some movement.
What stands out to me as being a huge difference from past years is the fact that the kids on campus do the right thing and stay out of trouble/complete their schoolwork. We also have weeded out the culture of entitlement/poor work ethic for the most part to the point where you are the outcast on the team if you are not willing to put in the work to be great.
It is a difficult situation, but the coaches will have to make choices on whether or not to take advantage of a unique opportunity to increase the talent level. But there is no question that we have some guys on the roster that do not belong based on ability and performance.....not because they are bad kids.
That is true but it is possible that there isn't much. Of course there will be movement and sometimes players go away that might not want to do so. Development of players is the most important thing and the longer a player stays the more they progress as long as they have the correct attitude. It has long been a pet peeve of mine that people write off players if they do not perform in their 1st two years...sometimes it takes a player a while for the light to come on.
Our roster is made up of almost all young and talented players. If kids are doing the work in practice, the weight room, and the classroom, and don't get in trouble, they are not going to get cut. Saban does not have that policy, but Spurrier does. Prospects will like that about USC, and it's the right thing to do.
I do not see the logic in cutting a RS Frosh or Soph, who has hardly had a chance to show what he can do, just to bring in another Frosh. With most of the guys on our roster, it is unlikely we are going to replace them with a more talented player anyways.
Next class is going to be small, but strong. I don't see any way we make it much more than 14.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Actually he was not. Op editted his post.
