First off I've been a monthly subscriber because there have been many times I was so fed up with some comments it would make it easier to drop the membership if I reached that boiling point. I came to this site after Tony left GCC because I think he's the best in the business. Having said that, I don't see a problem with disagreeing with Tony, JC, Wes, etc on a particular subject. In fact, I would think they are ok with that because that's what a message board is...open discussion and we don't always agree (that would be boring too). However, there are obviously a small percentage that doesn't have thick skin and takes everything the wrong way. Disagreeing is one thing, but acting childish is another. Tony and JC didn't agree with each other on the Rodgers situation when the Maryland rumblings started, but they didn't try to "one up" the other by saying the other was wrong and didn't know what they were taking about. We all need to remember that we're all on the same team here. Whether it's Big Spur, Gamecock Central, Gamecock Anthem or whatever site you get your info from we're all wanting the same results. And as a Carolina fan for 35 years it's been a blessing the last 4 years because the first 31 years didn't have any kind of run like the one we're currently under. Remember Shawn Elliott turned down Florida to stay so sometimes when we keep a guy we tend to forget it when we lose one. I do understand some people say it's a free country and they are paying members and have the right to vent. Maybe I'm overstepping my boundaries on this, but I don't think the staff has a problem with that. I think it's perfectly fine and justified to vent when something isn't going good in the program. However, some people say some very rude comments about that individual when they don't really have ANY inside info or truth behind the story. That's where the staff DOES have a problem. We're paying for their services and if you don't like what they report or think they aren't sharing all information you're paying for then you should move on because it's a free country right?
PS...if I could change on thing on this board it would be to get rid of downvoting. I don't post as often as I would like due to downvoting. Example...I picked us to go 10-2 this past year in regular season. I nailed the prediction, but missed on the losses. I thought we'd lose to UGA & Tennessee and win at UF and at LSU. I stated my OPINION and got absolutely ripped for it. 30+ downvotes for DISCUSSING football on a message board. Just stated my reasons and got ripped for it. Other than that this board is fantastic and after taxes I plan to upgrade to a yearly membership...and get my texts messages back!! :-)
I agree with most everything but do not get why anyone gives a crap about up or down votes.
Agree with most everything you stated but why be so concerned about downvoting.... Why do you feel the need to have positive reinforcement from people you've never or will never meet?
i presume the thinking on downvotes goes something like it breeds contempt for other people's opinions
there does seem to be a bit too high a degree of disrespect bw posters around here
TL:DR , but there are some people who know stuff who aren't staff. Sometimes those people misinterpret their access to information as actual knowledge. I do disagree with that. I don't agree with censoring acknowledgement that this coaching staff, and in turn this site, have gotten burned bad the last few months.
If its excessive and uncalled for, cool, kill it. But you guys let noscreenname run rampant on here for over a year but just now get upset?
Seemed clear to me he was directing his comments towards the people who talk trash to the staff or are constantly negative towards other posters. Who cares about the votes, I've got almost 25k, nobody is catching me.
Maybe the staff should have some "thick skin" as well, instead of whining about people being rude... on a message board that primarily deals with where 17 year olds are going to college. If your chosen profession is running a website for fanatical college football fans and you are surprised they get pissed when things don't go we'll with our team, frankly, that's being naive and childish. Especially when said staff got scooped by a joke of a site like footballscoope.com
NAF Atsugi, Japan.
Is he still here?
Two grand boys, Two state championships. 5-peat USC
My sources are telling me he has already been banned.

I will add that the folks who poke the 'complainers' with a stick (especially after Tony's message) aren't any better than the complainers. Same with up/down votes. None of it matters and is all ego driven. Folks need to step back, remember they are adults, recognize their egos are making them do things they shouldn't, and refrain from posting sometimes.
It's great to have disagreements and adult discussions/arguments on message boards - that is what they are for. Unfortunately most of the time it almost immediately bogs down to ego driven insults and personal attacks. And that's from both sides. I will never get it - but is what it is. Folks who are 'positive' all the time should be 'bigger men' and avoid the 'I told you so' posts against the folks who Tony targeted with his comments. You don't always have to be right, although your ego does. Be above it all and just let it go - why feel the need to poke and prod other folks and tell everyone you are 'right'? On a message board being right and wrong is all relative - the conversation and the information is what should be enjoyed.
I agree that the downvotes are garbage, but it's just not worth worrying about. That shouldn't be keeping you from posting. It's a silly little arbitrary rating -- you shouldn't let it stop you from adding thoughtful posts. I got about 150 downvotes for a post explaining how we have a bunch of posters on here who are just like Dabo Swinney. Today it's truer than ever. Some of these people would get along great with him. They react to bad news the same way Dabo would -- complete meltdowns. They can't be objective or realistic. Hopefully we'll start to see some improvement!
I don't like the "downvote" thing either. I got creamed for my Outback Bowl prediction, and guess what? I turned out to be right. That's not my being ego-driven. That's my not liking losing my rating when I was actually right in my opinion. I'm not going to post said opinion again to prove that I was right, because I'll get a bunch of downvotes again. I'm a teacher. It feels like an "F" on my report card.
So sue me.
agree about the up and the downvote...silly in my view
barely read the rest so I dont need slams for that :<)
This site has grown tremendously in the last year or so, but so has the complaining.
We don't have to agree with what anyone says, but we need to learn to bite our tongue at times.
To get respect you have to give respect, and ranting and raving won't get respect.
Everything starts at the Top, and goes downhill from there.
Being ex- military I learned to be a team we had to stick together through thick and thin.
What has happened here tonight is a shame period, on both ends, not just posters, but staff.
I don't like to be threatened nor does anyone, and what was said here tonight will cause more people not to openly discuss on a message board. I rarely post as it is, but felt the need to here. Am I trying to step on anyone's toes, not at all just stated the facts.
Some people are already bailing out of here, but that is their choice, we do have to have thick skin at times.
Do I condone what some say on here not at all, but this has been a tough recruiting year, and now we lose a good Line Coach, and we get subtle answers, like I know more but can't say. Some things are left better not said period, it just adds fuel to the fire that is already burning.
Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.
That is one of my favorite quotes, and oh so true.
My Father taught me years ago a man is only as good as his word, and that has stuck by me all my life.
I guess what I am trying to say is sometimes we have to agree to disagree. Just my 2 cents and no pun intended, just trying to get people to lighten up. Go Gamecocks!
