I am not a Lakers fan but I have always admired his game. He's a great player and one of the best scorers ever. However, I'm thinking he's a little bit of a bitch. He has tried the leg kick to try to draw contact for years, but last night when the guy for Atlanta didn't back off and give Kobe an uncontested fadeaway buzzer beater, he started crying like a baby. One thing I can't stand is a grown man acting like a diva.
I do not care for him either. There comes a point when a player of his caliber chooses to move to the next level and begin focusing on making the players around him better...or remain the sole focus of the team. Jordan took that step...as did Bird and Magic.
IMO Kobe is a Wilt....a great individual player but a bad team player. He simply never laid down his horn in order to conduct the entire orchestra.
Well I am a Lakers fan and basketball fan of all levels and what Jones did was and should have been called a foul. It would piss me off too if someone walked under me not giving me room to land. The NBA has said as much as they have issued a statement saying the play should have been called a foul and wasn't.
Agreed. Kobe from the moment he came into the league mimicked jordon. All the way to kicking the leg out during a fall away jumper and sticking the tongue out early in his career. Who cares! Kobe is a wanna be. If it wasn't for Kendrick Perkins tearing his ACL in game six, Kobe would have never won without Shaq. Great scorer in a weaker league, with a huge Ego. Let him play in the late 80's 90's and he is mediocre
Mediocre really??? 5 total rings, 3 with Shaq and Kendrick Perkins really... Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I guess personal hate can be blinding..
I love Kobe. The show gonna keep battling and will be a tough out.
He has two rings without shaq. Perkins couldn't hold gasol that series. Gasol should have been mvp. Jones went under kobe he didn't give him room to come down which is a foul. Kobe is one of the greatest to play ever. He has a chance to be the alltime leading scorer before he is done. Go lakers
Kobe is the guy.
Another thing kobe has been to three finals without shaq. Would shaq have three of his rings without kobe?
Jordan whined to the refs too. they're great competitors so it comes with the territory. If Lebron had Kobe's or Jordan's competitive fire he'd be the GOAT. But he doesn't, so he's not.
Hahahahaha, what? That should never be called in a game winning situation. He cries when things don't go his way. I'm so glad the Lakers suck this year.
Fomerly known as Garnet&BlackAttack.
OP is a Kobe hater and Pat is a Lebron hater.
Thread is trending correctly.
I think most of the comments sum up Kobe, he has a huge ego problem and the fans that like him are the ones shouting the loudest for him and downgrading everyone else because of there egos. There isn't problem with confidence but a problem when you have no humility, and then that's the ego problem. He may be a great scorer but that is exactly why the lakers aren't vying for a chamionship but him for a scoring title. And def not a foul by Atlanta player, he made the shot tougher but taking away space and the offensive foul by Kobe for kicking his leg out was a foul.
My favorite basketball player ever. Love him.
The leg he kicked out didn't touch Jones. If you look at the video you can see that Jones didn't give kobe room ti come down which is a foul. Seems like slot of you guys hate more because of his personality than his game. He is one of the greatest and he haven't even showed any signs of slowing down
Why shouldn't a foul be called in a game winning situation? A foul is a foul no matter what situation the game is in.
Oh no doubt he is a great scorer and basketball player, just not near the best ever in all around game. Jordan had rebounds, assist, and scoring as well as lebron, Kobe has the points. My problem ab the no call probably has more to do with crying wolf way to much as do a lot of NBA players have this problems. If a ref is tired of you wanting a foul on every shot you take then he is less likely to blow the whistle.
The competitiveness is what makes them so good.
Bc it's a cheap foul. Kobe is one of the greatest of all time but if a ref calls that after the terrible officiating in that game then somethings wrong.
He has five titles. He makes others better in different ways. Don't kid yourself and believe Michael ever tried to be anything other than the sole focus of the team. That would be revisionist history.
Kobe did it this year and it worked for a short while. He passed so damn much it was funny.
He is a bit whiny for sure and I don't always agree with everything he says, but he is a great player.
The Lakers were at their best the last 12 games. He was averaging 30 pts, over six boards and seven assists. Best player during that stretch this side of LeBron.
I think Kobe overreacted, but Jones did one of the oldest tricks in the book. He walked underneath him. Happens every game. Don't think anyone does it to be dirty, but they absolutely do it to get away with a foul and make someone worry about their legs. It's commonplace in the league. Kobe does the leg kick a good bit, but that play was on the defender. No way did the defender mean to make him sprain his ankle, but he tried to disrupt him by going into his legs.
Back to the point at hand. Somebody on his team was better with five titles. He is more about being the sole focus than was Michael Jordan. (and I didn't say he was as good as Jordan - he's not).
