If the NFL has rules about media availability after games, then Belichick should abide by them. However, I get the distinct impression that media members care very little - almost none - about the fans and viewers but care tremendously about themselves and their enormous egos. They have a massive sense of entitlement about what is owed to them by every public figure, whether it is a politician, sports, or entertainment figure. Going back to the Spurrier/Morris feud, the way the other members of the media jumped to Morris's defense, it seems they truly believe they are entitled to every piece of information they desire.
From the blog Shutdown Corner: New England coach Bill Belichick doesn't handle losing all too well, and he blew off CBS' customary postgame interview with the coach of the losing team after the AFC championship game. CBS analyst Shannon Sharpe wasn't impressed and called him … Continue reading →
The guy is a great coach pretty gracious in victory but a total tool when they get beat. Just do the interview.
He is a world-class prick. That wasn't my point though. I'm curious if others feel like I do that coaches and players shouldn't be forced to provide access to those they don't want to talk to. I guess I understand the national media for groups like ESPN, CBS, FOX, etc who pay billions to televise the games, but why should one be forced to speak immediately after a game to other people, just because they get a press pass from their local BFE Morning News.
Shannon Sharpe is great and I love him, but he is a Raven. He didn't miss the chance to stick it to the Hoodie.
It should be the choice of the player or coach not the media whether they interview.

Two grand boys, Two state championships. 5-peat USC
I believe this.
Belichek has always hated pressers. He hates them when they win. He's a prick in a way, and if it wasn't for Brady, Welker, and all them I wouldn't go for them. Coaches should not have to do TV interviews if they don't want to, though. They already have to do a big presser at the end, TV can tape that.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
Not sure what else anyone would expect from a guy who wears a cut-off sweatshirt to his $7.5M/yr job. Great coach, no class.
Dude makes 7million a yr to coach football. He can suck it up and do the interview imo.
"Those who live in the past are cowards and losers" -- Mike Ditka
"World class prick". Same things most said about SOS and most say about Saban today. He wins and that is all Kraft cares about
What's real funny is most on here give Bill hell and call him classless but want to know about the availability of Rumph that classlessly talk crap about Carolina. They are only classless until they belong to us
This is true. I literally have a UGA friend who said the other day that "Richt is probably better at recruiting, cuz, haha, who would want to meet Spurrier anyway. He is such a jerk."
I told him he is a doofus and no one wants to meet Richt, cuz he isn't a living legend. He is just "that nice guy from the ford truck commercials."
Networks pay a billion $ a year for the rights to broadcast the games and have this access. If it's part of the deal, the hoodie should comply or resign. The State to my knowledge doesn't pay USC for access. Therein lies the difference. The hoodie is a loser for ducking CBS. Once again, he demonstrates a lack of character.
^^ Pats fan. ^^
I haven't mentioned anyone but Belichick, but thanks.
Yep Big Time and boy we stunk it up last night and Baltimore was by far the better team. But the Pats have nothing to hang their heads about.....They will be contenders again next year....Much like our Yard Cocks they both just keep on coming back......Belichick has done some crazy if not borderline things in the past but he WINS and that is what I care about......
Yeah, forget character...winning is all that matters right?
In the pros no one cares about character.....If they did Ray Lewis would have been gone long ago but we don't need to bring up his crazy past.....
why do you want to talk to the losing team's coaches or players immediately after the game or in the press room. i especially hate it in college. you just lost the last game you may ever play and they want you to go in answer a bunch questions from people that don't know a thing about the game or what it is like to be on a team. i still remember bobby knight blasting the ncaa after one of his tourney losses. he had to leave his kids in a locker crying and he has to come out and talk to a bunch of reporters.
That's called being a fan. Somebody may be a jerk, but if he's "our" jerk, then that's just fine. I have no problem with that.
