-- Kentucky has lost three in a row and six of the last eight games. The Wildcats were swept by LSU and lost two of three at home to Tennessee last weekend. Then smoked by No. 8 Louisville on Tuesday night.
-- Unsurprisingly, the Gamecocks will go with a rotation of Nolan Belcher, Jordan Montgomery, and TBA. In the game previews each of the last couple of weeks, we’ve correctly projected the Sunday starter. This week, we believe it will be Jack Wynkoop.
-- Tyler Webb will play catch today and see how he feels tomorrow. They’re hopeful he’ll be able to pitch this weekend. Structurally, he’s clean but it becomes a pain tolerance issue for him. He will be checked out by doctors on Friday as well and the doctors will give the coaches some guidance.
-- If something happens to Grayson Greiner, the backup catcher is Patrick Harrington. “You have to play the guy who has caught the most. He would be able to handle it fine.”
-- Holbrook was pretty candid about what this series means. Both teams are struggling. Kentucky has lost six of eight games and South Carolina, obviously, is coming off being swept. “We’re in that stretch of the season that we’re playing for a lot of the goals prior to where the season started. Each game, each pitch, each at-bat is magnified because of where we are in the season.”
