They are at least complicit in letting the NC game go on while trying to keep ESPN hushed about all of this. I have no doubt ESPN knew about this, and did not run the story. When is the last time you heard ESPN credit anyone with breaking a story? I hate ND, and am glad they got trounced. I also feel that Te'o stole several awards from Clowney with this farse. He's gay, and needs to come out with it, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Do us ND haters have meetings? Is there a secret handshake? Codewords? Do I have to be accepted to any club? I will assault a catholic priest, and bring his wallet to the next meeting if I have to.
Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
The appeal of ND is simply too much to comprehend. It will get better with clowns like BeansNFranks Cook gone, but they are a legend in their own mind (and some media folks too).
MTaido couldn't play in the SEC.
When I was younger, I had a bumper sticker that said, "If I owned Hell & Clemson, I would rent out Clemson and live in Hell"
The more I hear about it, the more it looks like he may have genuinely been duped at one point, (which means he's beyond stupid) but that he intentionally blew it out of proportion and ran with it in the media to garner attention for himself and his Heisman chances. (which means he's still a liar and a scumbag).
Of course, it still wouldn't surprise me at all if it turns out that he was in on it the whole time.
So you think they should not have played in the NC game because of this? Ridiculous, of course.
You might want to offer your first hand evidence that he's gay. You might also think twice before you post crap like this.
As much as I really dislike ND and the attention that they get from media even though it is not warranted, I fail to see why they would disrupt the preparations for the NCG.
I applaud both ESPN and ND for keeping it out of the spotlight. The NCG is something special for the young men that have worked so hard to get there, and because 1 person on one of the teams have done something/been duped, why ruin the moment for everyone else.
There is only 1 game and it had a set date. This story have all the time in the world to play out, so why run with it?
I wish that the same discretion would be given to other atheletes and teams and perhaps that is where people's frustration in coming from. Would this type of treatment be given to another team? Who knows, but I doubt it.

Who said anything about cancelling the game?
Do you think anyone would carry on a 3 yr online relationship with someone, and never see them? Why else do guys claim to have girlfriends that are not real, especially guys who live in a world where homosexuality is violently opposed?
Honestly if he came out with it he would gain a LOT of supporters. If he really is gay, now is the time to come out.
I would have some respect for him if that were the case. If he was in on it for any other reason, I can't say I would back him.
I kind of agree.
Don't hate they've been a joke for a good while this just adds to it.

Yea, the group's name is FuND.... you figure out what it stands for.
Can't say that I hate them - too strong - but, I dislike them VERY much for their openly arrogant, egotistical attitude. I hope this episode puts them in their rightful place as a mediocre football team which BAMA proved them to be. Pitt and Stanford got screwed by this holier than thou group. I hope they go 0fer in 2013!
Notre Dame still plays in the national championship and he still wins the awards if the girlfriend story never came up.
What would talking about it before the game do? Give ND an excuse for losing?

What took you so long.....it ain't that complicated really.
It wouldn't accomplish anything. If the same circumstances came up about a Bama player, though, I seriously doubt it gets hushed until after the game. That is not fair.
If he's not gay, he betta get gay, and throw himself in their corner.

**** I'm not an insider, I just live here ****
I really don't think either happens. He got fame and the awards because of his play and his story of being such a leader playing through the pain of losing his grandmother and girlfriend in a span of 6 hours, etc and ND rode his coat tails to the title game.

this. ND was a story, nothing more.
Also, welcome to the club Steve. Took you long enough to realize that ND has "clempson syndrome" - being stuck in the 1980s and refusing to acknowledge that it was twe...wait, it was 30 years ago.
How did they win games because of his fame? The grandmother really did die. That would have been enough.
I did not say ND won games because of his fame. I said they made it to the Natty on the feel good story and being undefeated. The story propelled them to the title game because their schedule sure as hell should not have. They would have been the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC this year at best and with their showing in the natty they did not belong there or in the Top 10 for that matter.
Navy - W 50-13, I'd rather not discuss Navy and I had actually forgotten about 1984 until writing this. sob sob.
Purdue - W 20-17 - Purdue 6-7(3-5) B1G conference not an impressive team though.
Mich St - W 20-3, Mich St 7-6 (3-5) same as Purdue.
Mich - W 13-6, 8-5(6-2) Good team but not better than us. See Outback Bowl.
Miami W 41-13, 7-5(5-3 ACC). Nothing to say here, it's the ACC.
Stanford W 20-13 OT, Should have lost, the Stanford RB scored on the last play. Luck of the Irish. Good win.
BYU W 17-14, BYU 8-5 on the season playing nobodies.
OK W 30-13, Signature win of the season. Good win.
Pitt W 29-26 3OTs. Pitt 6-7 playing in the Big Least. ND needed 3 OTs to beat Pitt. BTW Pitt lost to Ole Miss 38-17 in their bowl. Wow. Really Ole Miss. Should ND claim this as a win much less get credit for it on a national title run?? No.
Boston College W 21-6, BC 2-10(1-7 in the ACC) Laughable.
Wake W 38-0, WF 5-7(3-5 in the ACC) Again laughable.
USC W 22-13, So Cal 7-6(5-4 in the PAC 12). Good conference but they were horrible in it and lost to Ga Tech 21-7 in their bowl. Team was not that good despite preseason No. 1 hype.
Bama, L 41-14. 13-1(7-1 SEC). National Title. ND not in the same league and will not be for a while.
I admit I didn't even realize their schedule was that bad until I wrote this.
How is this schedule any more impressive than Boise State's running the table 2 years in a row and not making the national title game?

The Teo scandal is what finally made you hate ND? Not the college ignoring rape by two of their football players which lead to the girls suicide? Not that their head coach's decision making killed a young student? If I could burn that place to the ground and not suffer consequences I would.
Who was the other undefeated team? There could have been no Teo stories and they still would have been ranked #1.
Having another undefeated team does not change the fact they were voted No. 1 partly because of the story. The schedule does not support being ranked No. 1. Being undefeated does not support being ranked No. 1. Boise St was undefeated for 2 years excepting bowl wins so should they have been ranked No. 1 in those years and played for the title? I don't think they should have maybe you do. Just because a team goes undefeated does not mean they should be automatically thrust into the title game and just because a team wins, that does not mean they should be moved up in the rankings if a team ahead of them lost. I don't think anyone watching football could honestly put ND in the top spot looking at their schedule alone and on the field accomplishments if it were not for the story. I also don't think Te'o gets the nods for the awards without the story either.
