Before everyone jumps on me, I like their coach and players too. Classy before and after the series. I'll pull for them in the future when we aren't playing them.
That said, does anyone think they would finish higher than 6th in the SEC? They are about like a Miss. St. All the power arms I heard about, we face better in the SEC every weekend. This isn't meant to be a knock on OU but rather praise for what is easily the best baseball conference in the country. It's no surprise to me we handle teams like OU fairly easily after the gauntlet we run every year in the SEC.
I don't think you can underestimate how much experience SEC teams gain playing each other every weekend. It gets the team ready for weekends like this.
Traditionally, OU is solid. This year's team, I think was an average hitting team with a solid pitching group. Certainly, by making it as far as they did, they knew how to win when it counted. We were just better.
Top 16 team.
Average SEC team, in baseball especially, is a compliment imo. Not too much seperates the top from the middle on most days.
I agree. Middle of the road teams battle to go to omaha just like they did.
Why do we gotta call them an average SEC team? I guess I just don't see the need to do that. They made it to a Super Regional, and showed us a lot of class. Hat's off to the Sooners, they are a very very good baseball team.
Where would you put stony brook?
I agree as well. Any team that beats LSU at home in a Super Regionals is the real deal. We couldn't even handle them at our place.

Be gracious in Victory
Be Proud in Defeat
while there's a veiled attempt at giving credit.....just shut the hell up and celebrate victory over a quality team
I think the OU baseball team would finish about third in the ACC in FOOTBALL....
"an average SEC team" is a darn good baseball team. 3 sec teams made the world series, another hosted a regional and the 5th and 6th best teams played in the regional final.
By their own admission, this was not a great OU team, but they were a hot team. they beat baylor 5 times and took out a good Virginia team in the regional.
We were certainly the better team, and have been the better program the last 15 years, but OU has a good program that is getting better.
in New York
I am glad Stoney Brook is in the other half of the bracket
As opposed to having to play Florida?
Absolutely... Stoney has the mojo .....
Also,,, not in awe of Florida... think we match up okay with them and have a good chance to send them to the losers bracket.
Did you say something? I was distracted by my sooner boner
IMHO.....At this point ranking play no role. Each and every game will be a dog fight. We must face each game as such. We can never assume any victory.
