Is that the worst potential match up available? What a terrible game that would be. I forgot they were even a school until I read about the possible bowl destinations. Big 10 is garbage.
we finshed 8th in the polls last year. I want a win against anybody, and a few teams to lose above us in the polls so we can call this the best and highest ranked team of all time!
Give me the easiest team we can play for that reason and that reason alone.

Well, we're going either to the Capital One, the Outback or the Gator -- all of which match SEC/Big 10.
But I agree that Northwestern isn't a very attractive opponent: an off-brand program that overachieved this year, and may be really excited about getting a nice bowl bid. Can you say UConn?
If I could pick our opponent, it would be Michigan.
Isn't that the High School in Rock Hill?

I want Michigan in the Outback.
They are all the same to me. Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern. Bring it.
I don' care about a good game. I just want a win.
Northwestern is not a cupcake by any means!
They beat Syracuse by a point. They are average at best.
This. Northwestern is very solid.
Don't worry, we don't have Garcia at QB, so our team won't underperform.
Hold on boys.... Northwestern is pretty good.... give me a name school like Wisconsin who is down this year vs Northwestern....
but I think we should beat any of them but don't be saying Northwestern is ...... like an ACC team!!!
If we're going for OB part IV I would much prefer Meechigan for the name brand. NW as mentioned previously would probably be the most appreciative of the bowl bid and put more effort out. They don't scare, me but after sitting through the Uconn frozen Pizza nightmare in Birminghell I don't take any big slow strong teams lightly any longer. Sure we're not the same bunch of Gamecocks, and I truly believe we've moved beyond such entrapment's, but one never knows. Give me Meechigan or Whisky if they must so the coaches can talk up the name brand.
34-17, 4-3, 7-1, 29-7, 34-13 ALL STOP!!! It's a GREAT TIME TO BE A GAMECOCK! Back 2 Back Natty's! DOMINATION By GAMECOCK NATION!
I share these thoughts exactly.
No...no they're not. You just see 9-3 beside their name and know that they play in the Big 10 (which is a dumpster fire this year). Check the link and look at their schedule. We'd easily be undefeated with this schedule. Big 10 is as bad as the ACC this year.

I know Wisconsin started poorly and has had an off year but their hammering the ball right at opponents approach worries me a bit.
Kinda like Iowa was a cupcake......or Connecticut for that matter. Last I checked, we learned over the last few years that you still have to show up to play the game. We were tied with Wofford late in the game.........Wofford!
Same here. I think we match up well against NW and I woud just as soon have a blowout win than a good, close game.
And as for NW somehow being beneath us, I would if they are saying the same thing about us. Wishing for a named opponent like UGA, Florida or LSU

The rug really tied the room together, did it not?
Iowa from a couple of years ago says hello!
Then there's no excuse for us not beating the 'Cats like a rented mule.
Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty
If those in this thread think we're the same team this year as when we played U Conn and Iowa you're delusional. Some of you genuinely amuse me. Save the coaches speak for bowl week.
Whoever we play, we should give 100% effort to. Period. Win anyway. All that jazz.
If we play Northwestern in Tampa they'll be lucky to have 35K in the stadium, including all 100 Northwestern fans.
My daughter lives in Orlando, so any bowl game in Florida sits well w/ me, Outback seems to be the most likely landing spot for us. From a win or lose viewpoint I feel, at least on paper, we match up better against Northwestern, side note, their coach is a stand up guy. From a PR viewpoint Michigan would probably get more eyes on the game, still can't believe they were in and won the Sugar Bowl last year, kills me. As noted in another post, Wisconsin seems to have some real momentum now, from a win/lose viewpoint, IMO, they are the last team I would want to match up against.

Northwestern is a better team this year than Wisconsin, Michigan St, etc., but it sounds better to say you beat Wisconsin or Michigan St than it does to beat Northwestern. I hope we get Wisconsin.
